I see your point, but I'm convinced that its a tear - the blood even stains the material around the tear - just zoom in on the area.
Also,I remember a few people (that saw the PSM article) stating that Ermacs headband seemed longer in some pics than others - if you look at the pic where he is fighting Noob (also available on IGN.com ) you will see that his entire head-dress is made from one long headband interwoven together (both his hood and mask).
I believe that as Ermac recieves damage, his headband comes undone, revealing his face - it may even fall off alltogether.

Id really love it clothing did get damaged. Im just skeptical. There are alot of things the MK fans want, and I dont think the MK team can do it all right now. But if it really is true, im syked.

I noticed that too, and didn't they say using certain moves you can disarm enemies in MK:DA? Well they didn't now did they?

I wouldn't be surprised if they added ripped clothing in Deception. As already stated, they were supposed to add it in DA, but it was taken out before release. I don't think they had enough time to implement it the way they wanted so they just saved it for later. Count on it!

I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Ripped clothings were planned for MK: DA and it didn't happen not because they didn't wanted to, or not because they rushed the game: it was, instead, because "one of the systems" didn't allowed them to do so very well (that was a peace of quote from a source). It's safe to say it was PS2... And how bad, the game is not coming for GameCube and Xbox, instead is PS2 and Xbox; I don't think it'll happen that the Xbox one features something like that and the PS2 one won't.

I can't say anything about it, but I noticed that Sub-Zero has something on his left hand, I wonder what it is.

Thats part of the railings - if you look at the PSM article where subby knocks ermac through the fence, you can see it at the far right of the first screenshot

I think it's a tassle/arm band?
It would be kick arse if they had the ripped clothing this time around, when MKDA was coming out that was one of the features I was most excited to see

If they do bring in the promised wear/tear of clothing, how much could be ripped off? Will characters have somesort of underclothes? Considering how a few looked in MK:DA,
*cough*Li*cough*Mei*cough*cough*
I wouldn't be surprised we might see something we or at least I would rather not see. Then again, considering that the majority of the characters are male....

I don't know about that, I believe the MK Team allready made it clear they were to take the best parts of each system and expand the game the most they could on each system, rather than trying to keep all the builds the same, like they did with MKDA.

Yeah, I was wondering about that after taking another look at the Sindel vs Mileena pic in the PSM article.....
Maybe each character has a certain piece of clothing that gets damaged...pants,headwear etc
In some screenshots, Mileena's costume has a "tail" maybe thats her part of clothing that gets damaged?

Good find! I'm pretty sure there will be wear and tear in this one. In some of the screenshots it almost looks as if Sub-Zero's helmet has been knocked off revealing his bald head. My guess is that the bald guy is not actually Sub-Zero's alt. but Sub-Zero with his helmet knocked off. Notice how the two costumes are basically identical to each other with the only thing different being the headwear.
Oh and as someone already pointed out the thing in Sub-Zero's left hand is actually part of the railing.

Kano fan, please take another look at the last screen of the sequence with Ermac falling on the 5th page of the PSM article - can you honestly tell me that while his mask is still intact, THAT length of cloth is supposed to be there? It's a glitch in the system which governs the flow of different clothing, plain and simple.
I'm not the biggest fan of Ps2 in the world, I can see why people like it but I think xbox covers my tastes a little more. And with the hype surronding ps2 I expected more. But I think it wouldn't be that hard for them to implement stuff like wear and tear on ps2, it has enough power. I just don't think the MK: Team had the clipping and the polygons right on it. It is alot of work to add wear and tear to player models.

I hope they put this feature in the game. It'll look really cool and very realistic especially when you have characters like Baraka atacking you with their bladed weapons.
As for the picture, that does not look like a rip at all.
