What about sonya????
| Brunão Wrote: I really want Sonya to be in MK:D, she's brutal, fast, gorgeous and NOT slutty (that's rare in a MK game ) And MK:D is gonna be the best MK ever, so she's gotta be in! But I've got to admit.. she needs a better storyline... and if she needs to take a break from a game and later on MK7 make a comeback with a great story and amazing graphics due to the next generation system quality, then I guess that would be better, and I'd like that a lot. Though Sonya is not the only one who needs to take a break... I wouldn't mind seeing Scorpion sitting out of a MK game (NOT Subby though! I like him too much!! ), but I guess we would never see a MK game without Sorpion... (though I guess that already happened in MK3) |
I completely agree! Sonya proved to be among the best characters in MKDA. And you are correct when you say she is not the only character who needs a story twist and a break.
Great post.

I dont think storylines play an important role in a fighting game, especially if It does not revolve around the main theme.
For example Julia Changs storyline in Tekken 5, is she returns to the tournament to help save the rain forests, which was exactly the same excuse for her presence in the last game.!!!!!
Sonyas story line has been consistent and an interesting distraction from the main story of Mortal Kombat, it also added to the Main theme in many ways. Her story line by far is not weak compared to countless others.
I do agree that a change would do her good, but I wouldnt mind if they brought her back solely just to get rid of Kira.

Its funny how I agree and disagree with your post.
IMO storylines are very important, specially in a game like Mortal Kombat. There is no doubt the storyline is the best thing of this game, so, characters need to have interesting storylines, no matter how great, popular or powerful they are.
I do agree that Sonya doesnt have a weak storyline, and its true its far from being one of the worst. Also, people dont realize she hasent been involved with Kano since Mk4. And she had nothing to do against the Black Dragon in MKDA.
And she even had a big change in Mk4 when fighting side by side with Jarek, the only problem was that her storyline was not deep, but it had potential to give a whole lot more.
Thanks, queve. ^.^
Fighting games, to me, are like any other game. If the story line is half-assed I might not play it. Simple as that. Many of the MK characters have potentially great story lines, but Boon & co like to let them.. fall flat and sometimes disregard the progression of the game's story in order to make the roster they want.
Would you mind PMing me what exactly happened with her in MK4 and how she could open the portals and what not? The gameplay for it was so horrible and I eventually sold my copy. ;x I've forgotten a good bit.

Sonya should be in MKD!
She was top tier and one of the best in MKDA! Her story is open for improvement and she is one of the best MK characters ever!
She is deadly, sexy and downright kick ass in battle! If anyone should be in the game, it's her!

I disagree. Sonya's had a lot of games under her belt already. She's been in MK, MK3, MK4 and MKDA. MKD is seemingly taking place mostly in Outworld so there's no real compelling reason to involve her.
Now in MK7, which many are speculating will be Dragon King -vs- Earth, she has a DAMNED good reason to appear. We'll just have to see.
Besides, the only game she never appeared in (MKII) is widely regarded as the best of them all. Coincidence?

Sure! Sonya was tracking down Jarek, the last Black Dragon Member, but she ended up fighting side by side with him. Even though he was a criminal, he did not want the forces of Outworld to rule earthrealm.
In the end, he did not accept to be put under arrest and killed himself by accident, after jumping of a cliff. Sonya then reported to base.
According to the official comics, she and her OIA team developed high advance technology that allowed them to open portals with nuclear weapons.
You should also know she is Top`Tier in Mk4. Very fast and has the strongest mix combo attacks. Her special moves are also a great plus. And remember her leg grab fatality?
The gameplay was not that bad in MK4, IMO
********Tgrant, you said it bro.

And other fan faves like Kabal and Sektor weren't there too. It doesn't mean her absence made the game better!
Look at the stories so far for MKD. The returning characters have all had new directions given to them and the same can be done for Sonya. If her crime is being in too many games then they should remove Sub-Zero, Liu Kang and Scorpion too.

As much as I love Sonya, I agree. I like to think that if she is not in MKD, its because she left her spot to Sindel, Mileena, Jade or Tanya. Any of those awesome females.
Coincidence? I say bad luck. ;-D And still, I dont care, I like MKDA the best, and MK3 was (for me) a lot better, more fun.
But you are correct, Sonya is one of those characters that has been around forever. Mk1, Mk2 (background and story), Mk3, MkU, MkT, MK4, MKG, MKDA, MKD (?, but she will be in conquest so

Hahahaha,
If she has been in ALL GAMES then its only because of one reason, dont you think? She is popular, she is powerful, she is original. Wait...thats 3 reasons, I guess its because she is SONYA.
| Bezou Wrote: Hey, you guys know I mean no offense. I just think that Sonya would be better defending Earthrealm in MK7. That's all. MKD has a fantastic character roster as it is. And I'd love to see Sonya in it, but I doubt it's going to happen. |
We know.
I have a huge feeling Mk7 will be the best Mk game ever. So, yes, better for fans if Sonya is there.
And as much I think Sonya wont be there, I think there is till a chance.

I know, man. It's cool. Sonya has the Special forces organisation keeping watch on Earth. She can come to Outworld or wherever MKD is taking place. Although considering that the Special Forces Portal device got destroyed, she might have to resort to other means to get there. Surely Raiden would bring her. As for MK7, she can still be in, and have the Special Forces protect Earth again. Although maybe it should be more Earth based.
Adding Sonya would add a little more perfection to the roster in MKD!

I can do with or without Sonya, but yeah she is a classic MK character and also very interesting.
Also, Tekken's storyline is pretty lackluster to me. Everybody's in for the SAME reason, only different motivations (which, to me, sound half-assed). The only storyline in Tekken that interests me is the hate triangle between Heihachi, Kazuya, and Jin and all of the people caught in between it (ie. Xiaoyu, Hwoarang, Jun, etc). THAT'S ALL.

Helloooo?? Haven't you noticed that the programmers DON'T care about story elements?? They bring back and kill characters at their will... It makes me laugh now lol. And they change story elements the way they want .... Remember Kung Lao being the "next-gen" main hero?? And now we've got this "shujinko" who I hate btw... A main hero who came out of nowhere?? Meh.... If he's so wonderfull why did he had to wait until now... I don't like it, and is look is so... stereotypical...
So in conclusion the fact that someone dies or someone had this or that ending means absolutely nothing... It's a fighting game, the story comes in 2nd place....
And where is it?? I can't see it... Sure there are some great characters but... "fantastic"? Not IMO.
BTW funny sig lol

Yep it will be fantastic with Sonya, which is looking even more possible at the moment.
She's got her own bio putting her with Kitana and the rest.

I would love it if Sonya was in deception, what would the game be without the original female?
I have a good feeling she might be a secret character in which u have to unlock, but nonetheless she would be a great addition to Deception.
Besides, I want to know where her story is going next. So, I hope she's in it.
