In another thread, someone said that they saw in a video that grapples are back(?). They said Scorpion grappled someone(Subzero, I think) and started punching the crap out of his stomach. Now, I assume that the grapple move didn't mean Scorpion's spear attack, because being impressed with that move being in the game would make that thread-poster a moron. What are the grapples and how do they work?
I was able to (thankfully) download the Scorpion vs. Kobra video. At certain points, a pink(red?) flash appears where and when an attack hits the other opponent. Someone in a DIFFERENT thread said that these were counter-hits. How do these work? And do these counter-hits take away any life, a little life, etc.?
I have been keeping up with everything so far, but I have not heard of any grapples or counter-hits in the game. Or maybe I just didn't read into what they were when I heard of them?

I think this should be answered. I don't think everyone knows about these... but I could be wrong.

Also, do grapples mean actual grabs or just throws?

Do you really have to bump your own thread that are about basic fighting game questions that everyone knows and one that no-one can be certain about until the game is out.

A grapple... is what scorpion does to Darrius in the Scorpion vs. Darrius video on the main page here... he grabs him.. does 2 punches and then knees him a away.. counter hits r those hits with the red star... ex. sub zero does a high kick but scorpion ducks and sweeps him and the red star appears because u countered his high kick. Get it?

The grabbles are the throws.
The counter hit's are when a move is interrupted by one thrown by the opponent.
It's called a "Counter".
You can see the new throws including the one when Scorpion punches the guy in the stomach in the Game day video on the front page.
Or go here for a better version of it. Here
Click on "Media" to find the download.

"That everyone knows... and one that no-one can be certain about until the game is out...." Hmmm, what is conflicting about this now? Can you tell me? (Heh, it's funny to me that you said that these were basic fighting game questions, but you also said that no one is certain about them [or one] being in MK... Very void statement, considering this is what I was ASKING about. You could have simple said, "No one is sure about how these work in the game," instead of making yourself look like a fool.)
Oh, and I know they are basic fighting game questions but not so basic about Mortal Kombat, since streaming vids don't work that well for me and those things have never been implemented into the combat before.
Basically, I didn't know exactly how these looked in MK. So, thank you Scorpion.
I must have just read over the info. about grapples and counter-hits(being visible). I'm sure I have read about them somewhere... But since the posters I mentioned didn't go into detail about them I felt like I needed to ask.
Yep, I got a clear picture of it now! Thanks, Scorp!

Thanks, Siduu, Bleed, and Bezou (I know what you mean about grapples(?), but considering that this is MK, you never can be sure about how the creators decide to misname things, lol)
Thanks for the help and the link

Hey everyone, are throws unblockable again? Because you know, that's important to me.
Also, are there any throws that just "stun" or allow damage afterwards like Quan's throw -> boot launch "combo" or Johnny Cage's throw -> wall stun -> Shadow Kick "combo"?
And if you don't know why I put combo in quotes, you're probably not qualified to respond.

Grapples: Grabs/Throws. Simple as that.
Counter: When one is hit when one launches an attack. This usually ends in more damage and frame advantage (Which isn't present in MK as of yet)
Example: One throws a punch, and the opponent crouches and throws a punch to the legs. As long as the punch to the legs hits during the frame window of the opponent's attack, the counter hit will go through/be valid.

Asking about grapples and throws are things that everyone knows, because they are basic things in a fighting game.
Asking about Deception's counter hit system is pointless until the game is out, unless it is explained in detail and/or someone has played who can agreewith it, no-one knows for sure.
See the difference, I wasn't categorising your whole post in general, one description for one question you asked, one desription for another.
Must I go through my own posts in detail or will you have more than half a brain cell the next time you try to challenge something I've said.
