I agree with all of those but Kano. I'd also say Shang and Quan as well. I also think that Mavado proved himself to be an interesting X factor in the series.

I've seen enough of Mr. Oops, I crapped my pants! Besides, he's mostly just a trainer.

Usually new characters have VERY little chance of making it to future installments. Of all the new ones in MK3, for instance, only Cyrax and Sektor returned. Of the new ones in MK4 only Quan Chi returned. But then again many new characters in MK4 were largely fillers without much chance of returning (although I would have liked to see Kai return - Midway also seems to have thought of this, judging from the koncept art in DA).

But anyway, enough of the rambling. Old school characters that have become a sine qua non for me:

* Scorpion and Sub-Zero (MK isn't MK without them)
* Kung Lao
* Jax
* Shang Tsung and/or Quan Chi

And of the new ones, I see Mavado sticking around in one form or another, and perhaps Kenshi or Nitara. The rest doesn't really have a chance imo.

That's too many "ninjas." I think the MK team realized its mistake in putting too many pallette swaps in UMK3/MKT. Anyway, I think there are only a couple "must have"s for the next MK:

and either Liu Kang or Kung Lao.

I honestly can say from MK:DA that I could do without Li Mei, Nitara, Hsu Hao, Mavado, Kano, Mokap, Bo' Rai Cho, Drahmin, and Frost.

I honestly don't want every character I've listed as a playable character, just a little backstory to know what happened to them would be nice. Like Baraka, Jade, Rain, and Tanya. We know what happened with Ermac and Sheeva... why not the rest? Kai, Jarek, Nightwolf, Stryker, etc...

Yes I know what you are trying to say. There can be good purposes for them in MK6.

I'm putting my "maybe" on Scorpion because of his MKDA ending...But I do think that Ermac should be in MK6 because of his connection to Kenshi. As for Rain and Jade, they could be connected to Kitana's storyline. And as for Noob Saibot, he can be connected to Quan Chi's storyline.

As for Cyrax, I think perhaps he and Sektor should have one big battle against each other. Sub-Zero could try to help Smoke regain part of his humanity like Cyrax.

Khameleon should have a connection to Reptile's/The Dragon King's storyline while Reiko's will be very mysterious.

what if ermac is kenshi...

Yeah every single character thad be badass especialy Fujin(wit cape) and Sindel.

I think sub, scorpion, reptile, raiden, fujin, rain, baraka, kung lao, quan chi, shang, reiko, sonya, jax, kenshi, cyrax, sektor, and cage need to come back

this is all based on opinion of course .. so the only character that needs to be in the game for me to buy it is Kitana.

No Kitana, I'll skip on it.

Of course there are alot of charcters I'd love to see return Baraka, Mileena, Sindel, Rain .. blah blah blah .. but that's not what the question asked :)
