robin along with a good chunck of the bat family are all main characters in the DCU. he hasn't been batman support in a long time none of the robins have actually.
You're missing the point. Regardless of whether or not he's a sidekick anymore, if Robin was in the game and Batman wasn't, people would hate it the same as if Kilowog was in the game instead of any of the human GLs. That's just how it is.
