Is it coming to the XBOX?

By the way, I've played VF4 and I think it's wack. I'll choose any MK over it anytime any day.

Agreed ^

Yeah VF 4 sucked IMO, that game was either hated or loved. From what I read and heard though, more hated....

I played VF 5 it's alright.

All fighters(arcade fighters) are not legit online for the most part, but arcades are dead so online is the logical choice now days for expanding comp.

I have capcom vs sNK 2 for xbox hehe, you might beat me in that game though but I like playing it.

The VF series is the deepest 3D fighting game ever made. No flash. All substance. It doesn't get the attention it deserves in my opinion. It makes the 3D MK fighting games look like a complete and utter joke.

But, yeah, you're not playing that shit online with lag.

It's online for X-Box but not for PS3 I think.

Either way, it doesn't matter.

dave,

You are absolutely correct. I love VF4 Evo. I wish I could play VF5 but I don't have XBox 360. I'll probably get it sometime next year after I get my PS3. The fighting engine is the deepest of any fighting game, there is so much to learn and perfect. If there was a game with the characters, story, music, and atmosphere of MK and the fighting engine and graphics of VF, it will be the best fighting game of all time.

OK, I've just youtubed VF5 and here what I think.

At first glance, it looks very much like a refined version of VF4. Better graphics and stuff. However, the core gameplay is still very similar. Moreover, VF series reminds me so much of DOA. That VF5 infact looks like another variation of DOA4. I like to play these games when I'm chilling with my friends. But honestly, I never get the rush MK gives when I play them.

MK is very unique when compared to other fight games. Starting with the block button, combo mechanism and execution of moves. That's why I've never really gotten into other fight games apart from playing them casually.

Also, Tekken actually took most of the elements from VF but a lot of people aren't even aware of that.

VF is originally the first and best 3D fighting game as far as all of them.

MKA might not be as deep as VF but at least they had the elements which worked unlike MKD which has crap for wake up, parries, counters, rolling etc.

VF 4 IMO wasn't that great, but I did play VF 5 it's a lot better.

I think the Virtua Fighter games have great gameplay, but there is sadly almost no replay value in the games besides fighting other opponents, which I don't have any friends or relatives that actually like the game to play with me.
That is why online will be a great source for replay value on that game, to bad I don't have Live and I hate the xbox 360. Red ring error? No thanks, I am sticking to the other consoles.

Dave, are there any broken VF games?

VF has a block button as well, more complicated combos, and far more complex move exceution. So, MK isn't anything close to unique (at least the 3D games are not).

That is why, like MKF said, Tekken steals their shit. But really, all fighting games take gameplay features from each other. Boon has even admitted to playing Tekken and has tried to implement some of its gameplay aspects into MK.

Iori, I am not a VF expert and I certainly won't act as one but the VF series is probably one of the most balanced games ever. The developers test their games and usually they never add too many characters into their games, which helps cut down on the "broken stuff". With that said, I think a former version of VF:4 had an over-powered character, which was later fixed in another version of VF:4.

Yeah, Boon loves Tekken, SF when asked about other fighters he enjoys.

What other fighting games do you guys enjoy anyway besides MK?

For me it's SF, Capcom vs. SNK2(love this game), DOA4 and I'm getting more into VF 5 a little more now.

Tekken and KI I know can be fun, I just can't get into them as much as the others. I respect Tekken though, I know they use a good engine.

I’m starting to really like this game. I may never play mka again.

The only character I am using is Eileen. The only bad things that I have found with her are a lack of range and mids in her attacks. Right know I just know the standard combos of the move list for her.

And the best thing about this game is the 45 second clock. No more chasing people for 90 seconds like in mk.

For some reason they had the shipping date as the release date. But it should be there today.

Most of the matches have been almost lag free. But I don’t know this game very well yet so that just might be the reason I have not notice it much. But it does run a lot better then Tekken 5 DR online.

I have not found out how to continue playing the same person more then one match yet.
You have to pick your character before you go online. Which suck if you like picking through the whole roster. But I guess it help against counter picking.

Nice info Dave!

I'll give VF5 a shot and see what I think of it. If I like it, I'll give you props but if I don't, I'm suing you for misleading me.

I still have a feeling it'd be like DOA4 all over again.

On another note, does any know of any fight games that plays like MK? I'm interested.

Well, one thing from fighter games in general that I learned about in general is that most of the time with the exception of ("revamped games, revamping the engine etc like say in MK's case now and from MK4-MK:DA, SF 2D-SF3D etc.) is that most fighting games aren't that different from the previous title other then being slightly improved usually).

Example, MK:A isn't that different from MKD. Tekken 4 isn't that different from Tekken 3, SF3 compared to SF II, DAOU and DOA4 etc.

Know what I'm saying?

But yeah trax I'd say honestly say with your question is to check out a few games I can think of similar to MK.

Tao Feng, made by John Tobias after he left midway. It's an alright game, a lot felt it sucked but some people do like it. No doubt inspired by MK.

Mace:The Dark Ages made by Midway also, this game was fun and had fatalities. 3D on the N64 and PSX, better on the N64 though

War Gods:Also made by Midway, has fatalities like MK but 3D, get it for the N64. I recommend.

Bio Freaks:Ok, this game is also made by Midway and to me is a cross between MK and Thrill Kill honestly lol. You can severe limbs, lots of blood and very violent.

Check out these titles Trax.smile

Trax, how is VF:5 (or any VF series for that matter) like any DoA game? That completely makes no sense to me.

Oh, and MKF, Tekken 3 is nothing like Tekken 4. Tekken 3, if anything, is most similar to Tekken Tag.

Thanks MKF. I'll do more research based on what you've listed.

Damn Dave! You're so technical!

Don't pay too much attention to my view of these games. I rarely play anything apart from MK so I guess you could say I'm ignorant.

From your writing, I can tell you're a die hard beat 'em up; So what game or games would you recommend that has 3d MK feel to it?
