Who will go into Deception as the main hero?
Who will go into Deception as the main hero?
I'm under the impression that Sub-Zero is the new main hero. They seem to want to push him as a pillar of all that is good now, and few things would do that like making Sub-Zero the new hero. I know why Liu Kang is back, and it's not to be a hero...it's for revenge that's all I'll say.

I think you may be right about Sub, It just seems the logical Choice if Lao isn't involved. As for playing the "hero" first, Nah. I think I will either start with Mileena, Tanya, Sindel, or Nightwolf. Haven't decided yet but it's down to those four.

Ben of course.Long Live Johnny Cage.

oh, god.....it probably is, isn't it?
but I would prefer it to be....Sub-Zero.

No way! It would be a crime if some rookie to the series gets that title. No, Sub is definitely the safest bet. For it to be Ben is unthinkable, imo.

Actually hopefully this is were sub finally gets it.Alot of the ninjas back it would be a shame if sub dosent get killed this time around. The hero
could still be Ben though. But who knows this might
be were the Bad Guys actually dominate this time.
They didnt get dressed up for nothing.Long Live Johnny Cage.

if kung lao isn't there... hmm then yeah subzero will be the new hero.. or bo rai choi... yes it is a possiblity..

Actually, i've been thinking the same for a while now. Perhaps subzero will be the main hero of MKD, well, atleast i would like it to be that way. IMO, i think its a cool idea, especially if kung lao is outta da house.

Actually, Liu Kang will be the hero. He always has been and always will be the main character in Mortal Kombat. I don't care if you say "he's out for revenge"....he'll probably end up being the hero in the end anyway.

I'm not even sure who all the characters in Deception are yet, and I surely don't know their alignment, but I'd think either Subbie or Liu Kang will be the main hero.
Though it'd be interesting if it was Kabal (from what I remember of his MK3 ending).

Its going to probably end up being sub-zero or kunglao. But I'm lending towards Lao. I mean none of the other characters seem to be main hero material.

I don't think Liu Kang would be out for revenge. He's shaolin, and unless he's fighting for the loss of a friend, I don't think revenge is in him. It's not the shaolin way. Since the Deadly Alliance is no more, Liu's purpose would probably be to aid his friends in defeating the Dragon King, while getting his body back in the process. Liu Kang's main goal, I'm sure, would be to fulfill his duty as MK Champion, and protect his friends and earthrealm.
After I got over the shock that they would dare kill the main man of the game (though I feared this would happen after Tobias left), my only hope was that Kung Lao would take his place. To me, he was the best choice. His background is the closest linked to Liu Kang, and he's named after a former champion and legend of MK. Sub-Zero is cool enough as a character, but Kung Lao would fit the hero role much better in my opinion. However, now that they have surprised me again (this time in a good way) by bringing Liu Kang back, I hope they don't mess up his role in the story. I don't need him as some side ghost or zombie. No one tops Liu as the main good guy. He's always fit that role, and there is no reason why he should not remain an important part of the story.
My hope is that they do something to show how important Liu Kang is to Mortal Kombat. Like having the Dragon King's presence strongly felt, while in the mean time Liu Kang's working towards regaining his body, or aiding his friends in whatever way he can. Though he is in two forms in Deception, spirit and zombie, I hope this is only temporary, and that in future games he returns in his true human form. Then, have his presence truely shine to show that Earth realm was missing a truely great warrior during his absence.
This will allow the storyline to go in a darker direction for a while, making it seem like the bad guys are winning. Then, Liu Kang's return can be that much more of an impact when he returns in future games. Like a new hope for Earthrealm type of thing. I feel this would make the struggle that much more dramatic, bringing back Liu Kang when things seem darkest. This makes Liu Kang's return all the more important.
I'd also like his role as the champion of Mortal Kombat play some part in aiding his return. Maybe by some rule set forth by the elder gods, or some right he may have to earn his life back. If a normal mortal like Johnny Cage can just come on back to life just because Raiden gave it the ok, the champion of Earth should have the right as well. And anyway, I still don't feel the deadly alliance's sneak attack was something that should have been allowed to happen by the gods. Being the champion of Mortal Kombat, one would imagine the protector of Earth realm (Fujin) would have watched over the hero more carefully. Speaking of Fujin, I would think the new protector of Earth realm would be on the scene more. Guess Raiden just couldn't let his old job go.
So as far as who should be the hero of MK, my support is still with Liu Kang. Besides, he's still the hero people. Just because they killed him in Deadly Alliance doesn't mean someone else took his place. Heroes take absence in many stories, only to return later. I think this is the case here. Liu Kang may be out of the picture for now, but it looks like his true return is not too far away. And those of you who complain he's story didn't change much, you should be happy that they are doing something creative with the character. I feel like this is a very drastic twist in a character's story than what we are typically use to. You guys can't say his story is uninteresting now, so let's sit back and see what they do.
As a Liu Kang fan, I have my fingers crossed that they are really bringing him back. I think his return has the potential to be the greatest return ever. It all depends on how the guys at Midway choose to go about it.

Well, the only way Liu Kang would be able to come back is with the death of Shang Tsung and the release of Liu's soul. That happened in a lot of MK:DA's endings but you never know "what happened" until the next game actually comes out.
Either way, it'll be good to see Liu Kang back in any form and if anyone can take out the Dragon King, Liu Kang can.
Dragon morph!! :D

My bet the main hero is the last unconfirmed returning MKDA character. Why else would they wait so long to tell us who it is?

I would love for Mileena to be the hero, but i doubt it, shes probably going to be the evil character in the game. It would be a good twist though IMO.

I don't think the hero will be Lui Kang. If they wanted him to return as the main protagonist, I'm sure they would have taken the extra step to revive him completely. I think the reason he's even a ghost is because they didn't want him to be the main focus, but merely present to please the Lui Kang fans(such as I).
My money is on Subzero. While lui was more of the "underdog" hero, Sub comes off as more of an Authority-type hero.
