Since there are a couple tournaments popping up (FINALLY!) What character(s) would you use, why them, and what tactics would you use?
Even if you're not going to participate, responses are obviously welcome...

id proberly use sub im best with him and he is very strong and a good person to use if ur losing
I'm debating using Kenshi, Scorpion, Shang, or Reptile...Kenshi is iffy because he is not a strong straight up fighter. His combos are awesome so if I play defensively I know I can win. Reptile or Shang are my first choices. Reptile because of his mix ups and 40% branch.
Shang because he is fast and has high priority.
Scorpion is iffy also because everyone will be playing scorpion most likely. I'm good with sub zero, but like Kenshi he is not that good straight up...

I have about 4 fighters I am more than confident to use in a tourney, some more than others. I would use Shang Tsung, Kung Lao, Kenshi, or Mokap.
My character would depend on the rules of the tourney, but I will most likely go with Mokap.
I know a lot of people here don't like Mokap, but he has three of the best (in my opinion) fighting styles, 3 very useful specials, a reversal, taunt, and a shove.
But, the best part is... You can not fight against Mokap unless you're playing against another player, so you're not going to know what hit you until it's too late when I'm kicking your @$$!

I'd play Scorpion or Lao. I like Scorpions combo because they're easy to pull off and they do good damage. Plus if you get the spear to connect, you get a free combo. I like Lao's Mantis because of the speed.

Reptile, because he's very quick, does good damage, and he is (now) my best.
Heh, simple as that.

I don't have the game yet, but Scorpion was allways my best. Good luck on the tournment; train a lot; I recently lose a tekken 4 tournment and I didn't like it lol

I'd prolly go with Shang Tsung, Scorpion or Kung Lao. Kung Lao because of his speed, Shang because I can own anyone with him, (^_^) and Scorpion because he's all-around good, but most people will prolly use him.

Shang, becuase he's cheezy.
Maybe Drahmin, just to get that, "Drahmin sux shit" response from people.
Peace and love ya'll.

I'd probably use Frost and Kitana because ... well because those are the character's i'm good with. Also I find I when I use Frost It's easy to confuse people.

Drahmin: because he fights different then the other characters and his groundpound move is unblockable. It drives my friends nuts when i use him.
Sonya: because she is fast, and those sticks are just fun to bash some heads with!

Kenshi
The only guy I still play as, since I hardly play the game anymore. Yet I rarely use his specials, so that could hurt me in the long run.
Alt Sub0
Exact opposite of Kenshi I do lots of juggles using specials, but not many combos.

Sonya is probably the best to use as a couple of her moves add an extra hit and she has a good mix of combos/juggles.
Nitara is great to use as well.
I go well with Kano and Hsu Hso (just don't ask me to spell him off the top of my head) as I use their back x, back y weapon combo moves to devastating effect. (xbox). Kano's Xing Yi style is also very effective.

Sub Zero. Hes one of those fighters that started off as a mid tier, but people came up with such great stuff that he became top. Insane mix ups, guaranteed power up juggle off of b,d+2, the safest launcher in the game, great tracking moves, etc. Hes just a solid, solid fighter. I cant stress how good Kori: 3 is. Its safe is is basically unpunishable. If they think they can punish, ss immediately after 3 and do 3,cs~cs~d+2,1,2,cs for 21%. Shotokan 1,2,b+2 is awesome, and is the staple for his strongest juggles. Dragon has b+4 which auto sses and gives you space. He has d+3(which was even used till Konqrr talked about) to break up combos and crap. b,d+2 is broken. Strongest damage off of it and is pretty much guaranteed on a successfully blocked or ssed move. Not to mention if fully utilized, his wall game is S-I-C-K! I went to Philly to face SpazzOut and I pulled Shoto: 1,2,b+2,b+2,1,2,4,cs,1,2,cs off a power up for 63% percent? WTF? illness. SZ has all it takes to be top tier if played defensively, and this is why he is my main. Not to mention the 6th SZ is my favorite character ever. I even used him in MK3, where he blatantly sucked.
Konqrr, I thought your main/fav was Scorpion? What happened? Finally realized that Scorpion is all flash and no skill? jk.
As for Hsu Hao being one of the best, it really depends on how much room us players are willing to have in our top tier section. I strongly believe that Sonya,Scorp,Shang,BRC,Sub,Nitara and Drahmin deserve the top tier spot more than anyone. These 7 can all duke it out without being at a serious disadvantage to anyone. Thats all i'd put there. Of course, Hsu Hao, Quan Chi and JC could also compete with the top tiers, but there are just SLIGHTLY below them. Hsu and Quan Chi are too reliant on reversals, and their mix ups, while fairly good, are very punishable if they guess right, but I guess im being a bit pick since thats how it is for all fighters. JC is probably the most likely to be top tier of the 3, but he doesn't have any real mix ups, which hurts him a bit, but he is a such a great character overall. Plus he has Nunchaku: d+1 and d+3, which are both really good. If we are limiting it to 7, I guess i'd replace Johnny with Drahmin. Im probably alone on that one, but I think JC is a bit better than Drahmin. Or hell, put both in. 8 fighters as top wont cause much problems.
