Why do they show fatalities before the game comes out?

It may not sound like a big deal, to some, but I personally think that when they show fatalities, they are revealing a little too much. I liked it better when the fatalities were mysterious (in the games before MK:DA). Now, everything's just out there. I hate it, because I think it takes away some of the mystery.

One more thing they should do is get rid of the fatality stance (if they hav'nt already), because, I think that has a lot to do with the focus being shifted toward the fatalities...because (in MK:DA) a fatality is treated like it's another fighting style.

Do you agree or disagree?

I might have to disagree on this one bro. First of all, you're not forced in any way to watch the trailer where the fatalities are shown, in many of the threads in which this is duiscussed there are SPOILER alerts for ppl such as you and others that don't want the surprise to be ruined, and even in the main page of the site when aything is revealed they alert you before you see the pictures or videos. So it's up to you to decide weather to see it or not.

Concerning the Fatality stance, it's intended to make things easier , don't tell me it never happened to you that you were trying to perfor a fatality near the opponent and you ended up kicking him or throwing him, ending your chances of doing it so. Anyway i'm aginst the fatality stance not because it's too fatality cenered but because a fatality is something htat must be earned and i dont like the idea of making it easier for us. i think theyre showing us some of the fatalities etc because of how dissapointed alot of people are in mkda theyre giving us a look at what we expected and what we should have already had in mkda
or maybe its cause theyre proud and excited with what they have made ooooo hope so if theyre proud and excited that probably means they wont do a rush job on it like with the last one
or maybe because theyre retarded, who knows

It's actually basic marketing. I'm sure if boon and crew had their choice, we wouldnt see any of them, much less even as much of the information we have seen already. Why? MK, MK2 & MK3 and MK4 were all arcade games to begin with. You generally don't market an arcade game, it sells itself, and at the worst if you dont like the game, you wont really miss the .50 cents. Home console games are a totally different animal, hardcore mk gamers would probably go out and buy it no problem, but others arent going to drop $50 bucks on a game because it has a flashy box and a cool picture or two on the back, they need to be sold on it, hence seeing the fatalities, deathtraps, ect ect. Because even if they end up hating the game after playing, they were sure as hell drooling over it when they were just watching the videos of it. thats my .02 cents on the issue.

oh and i think the fatality stance is one of the best ideas midway have had towards the gameplay if only there was a fatality stance in mk3 wouldve made all those up up down etc fatalities alot easier to pull off
I think they reveal some fatalities before the game's release. "A taste of things to come," as Shang Tsung said in the first movie.
