Why is Li Mei wearing armor? What is her reason for being in MKD? My theory and your thoughts (some spoiler)

Since the fact that some of us saw the intro and some has not (like myself) but i notice somethings that might lead up to Li Mei and her "armor" costume. but hear me out. and it may not be true (most likely not true).

First off, lets jusr say her ending in MKDA is true. her soul is transfer into one of the Dragon King's soldier. then a few min.

Then, the MKD intro happens. You know how the MKD intro goes. and when Raiden use all his power to attempt to defeat the Dragon King (DK) but failed. Shang's palace fall into crisp. But while the DK's army is still standing. He notice that one of the soldier's soul has the most anger in it.

so he found it, saw the soldier who happens to be Li Mei, having rage and anger inside her for that she was used and her people wont be freed. So the DK promised her to be freed, under one circumstances. He wants her to be his personal bodyguard. But she refuse.

Then the DK use his power to turn herself evil, thanks to her rage and anger she has inside of her. He then transform the soldier into Li Mei's "human" form equip with a new armor, suitable for the female body. and now she's here.

(sorry if it doesnt make sense) What do you think? I know for a fact that some of you HATED or dislike Li Mei. but give her a second chance. some you gave Tanya a second chance so why not her.

EDIT:i edit the title cause there is sooo many good theory about Li Mei and why is she in MKD. *sobbing* smile im sooooo happy smile *sobbing*

I don't hate li mei but i don't think her MKDA ending happened. Li mei would be more powerful in her mummified form and if the DK wanted her as his bodyguard i'm sure he would've kept her that way.

That's a good theory. Personally I don't like Tanya and I like Li Mei better.

Well, unless Li Mei is wearing a specially made suit of custom armor the DK gave her I don't think it's that likely that she's alligned with him. Two reasons really, the first one being that the armor worn by the DK's army is completely different than the armor worn by Li Mei. It's different in it's overal style (Li Mei's is more Chinese looking, like something you'd see in Dynasty Warriors) whereas the DK's army's armor looks more Japanese (more Samurai-esque). The color schemes are also way off.

The second reason I'd say nay to this theory is that we've got really nothing to support the idea outside of the armor assumption. Which is shakey at best.

Still, your idea is possible though I just don't think it's likely.

haha, you do have the point. i know her armor has a chinese look. but like i said, its just a theory.

I hope Li Mei is pure evil. The armor does not really look like the one of the army, but Im guessing she is one of the DKs bodyguards to trick earth warriors. smile

Li Mei failed in defeating both Quan Chi and Shang Tsung and her soul was used to ressurect the last of the Undefeatable Army. Moments later, the Earthrealm warriors attack Shang Tsung palace and the MKD intro takes place.

After the blast only Li Mei and the Dragon King are left standing. Sensing her power, the Dragon King offers her a place at his side as a bodyguard and promises revenge on Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. Li Mei accepts.

Thats a pretty good concept and would go well in the game. I would think something like the Dragon King offers to free her race after she helps him conquer all the realms. I hope her story will be good in MKD cause it was weak in DA

Well, I thought that maybe the Dragon King had deceived her, and while he said he was going to give her her revenge, he enslaved her people.

So when Li Mei finds out about this, she's going to try and kill the Dragon King when he's least expecting it.

Is Li Mei very popular? I wouldn't have guessed she was, and when I found out her and Bo Rai Cho were in this game I was pretty surprised, but does she have the popularity to warrant her return?

not really, she's not as popular as Kitana and Sonya. but for me, im happy that is in the game. but i think she is in MKD just to give her a second chance or she might have a big role in MKD (i highly doubt it) OR they put Li Mei in cause of Mileena so that they can tell people that Li Mei is Li Mei not a weapon stealer or a Mileena copycat/wannabe.

Li Mei is very unpopular as far as I know. But that has nothing to do with her, so much as the people who judged her based on nothing more than her weapon style and hated her for using the very same weapon as someone else. Everyone knows there's only one pair of sai in the MK universe. wink

Hopefully in MKD people will look past their prejudice and give Li Mei a chance.

I also think Li Mei has become a bodyguard of the DK... I think she was transfered into an army guy... but then somehow the DK gave her her body back..
I think LI mei and Mileena's stories are somehow conneced...

Well said Bezou. That's practically the only reason why she got so much heat was because she had the sais. MKD should be a new beginning for Li Mei.

What about a story revolving around maybe Li Mei being the missing link in the Dragon King's army to make it truly undefeatable? Maybe if all the pieces aren't in place, the army isn't undefeatable. While Shang Tsung and Quan Chi tried to make her the last soul to revive the army (as in her DA ending), that's when Raiden and the earth warriors sprung their attack so her soul was never transferred and now Onaga has offered a great prize to whoever can capture Li Mei and bring her to him. Mileena and Baraka both accepted and are now fighting each other over who gets to Li Mei.

Their may be a few plotholes in that story but let me know what u think.

Li Mei did not win the tournament. but however, apon her return from her failure, a rebellian comes out and kidnap her. and taken her to a seclusive area. it then that the rebellian is actually her people and the people told her how proud they are that she made it so far. they also told her to be strong and continue her quest to free her people. so her people gave her an armor to protect her from any danger. and now she is here.

and AJBradley, your theory is awesome. nicely said. it could happen (i hope)

I didn't dislike Li Mei because she had the sai, I just thought she was generally weak all around. While I'm a firm believer everyone should get at least a second chance around, I would much rather have all the fan favorites in this game, since the cast is so close to being perfect, and having Li and Bo in it seems like they're using up spaces that could go to people like Kung Lao or, as much as I hate him, Rain.
