She looks Egyptian now. Wierd... I thought she looked Latino in MK4.

Yeah, Tanya is white. She has suntan. Remember her third costume in MK4? The grey one with the suntan lines...

I agree with the idea that she looks more egyptian. She has never been black, and if you ask me, she is definately not white this time around when you compare her skin tone to Mileena or Sindel.

Well, her skin complexion is so much lighter now. There is a very big difference in terms of skin tone from MK4 to MKD. Just take a look at this screenshot:




now compare it to this:



That's a huge difference if you ask me.

I honestly don't know a single man who gives a shit about Tanya's 'drastic' skin colour change.

i think she looks great, although im kinda liking her old original costume a little bit better than the new one. she looks soo much mroe realistic in her mk4 render. alot prettier too.

Maybe that she used the same treatment than Michael Jackson... Don't indicate me the exit door, I'll find it alone...

Holy crap who cares? Why does everything have to be about race? Next thing you know you're gonna be saying they did it because they dont' like black people. Her skin looks pretty close to what it did in MK4 to me, but to be honest with you I wouldn't give a crap if they made her darker or lighter. It's just skin man. She's not even from earthrealm. For all we know her skin changes with the seasons. SHEESH.

I actually hope she and Jade are more black then white.

Its not that I care, but it adds variety to Mk.

how do you know about the ten years gap between the mk4 and mkd?

maybe I wasn't paying much attention but I don't remeber anything from da saying the number of years that passed after mk4...clarify me on this please

I care because as stupid as it sounds, keeping the character' skin tone the same provides the story with an air of consinstency and continuity. If they make Jax white, I'd be pissed. He's a black man. He should STAY a black man. They can't change that. It's part of his character.

Now, Tanya doesn't look different to me. She's still black.

I mean, even Jade was black in MK2 (notice her dark skin color in MK2).

Now, Sub-Zero I'm kind of pissed about. In MK2, he was a Chinese man (in his ending, they showed him without his mask on). But in MK3, MK4, and MKDA, he looked like an American guy with slicked-back hair.

Keeping race intact adds to continuity.

This is not black. Tanya is not, and has never been black.

There was not a 10 year gap between mk 4 and mk:da! It was a 10 year gap between mortal kombat and mk:da, if it were a 10 year gap between mk4 & da Sonya would be like 50! in Mortal Kombat she was 26 (IIRC) and 10 years from then she will be 36, this makes her older but still able to fight AND look pretty...

And it doesn't matter about slight or drastic skin colour changes to me, as long as the character retains their appeal.

The question is why are Tanya's eyes now white?

MK4 Tanya does resemble Stacey Dash.

Those pics are from Konquest mode which is a poorly rendered mode. The detail in that is really, well, crappy.

Exactly. Just like Jade, she's tanned. She's not black. Jax is black. Morph...Darrius is black. Tanya and Jade are not black. And you know what, be thankful they're not black. Given MK's sensitivity to other cultures, if either of them were black they'd stop being a character and start being a caricature, probably saying things you'd hear on the Jerry Springer show.
