Well, if Mortal Kombat 4 made the news, what makes you think Mortal Kombat: Deception won't? It's got more gore, more graphic fatalities, DEATH TRAPS!! And last but not least, Hari Karis, now don't get me wrong this is going to be a great game, but somewhere out there some stupid fuck will go out and actually try to snap his own neck, stab himself in the face, or hit his head on the ground till he bleeds to death, all of this ultimately leading to a possible ban of the Mortal Kombat series. Do you guys think Mortal Kombat: Deception will make the news?

if someone hara-kiri's himself just because he saw someone doing it in mk, that person must be the most retarded living thing on earth...
but I'm sure the game will cause controversy...fatalitys like dairou's rib to the eye and mostly hara-kiris will make those stupid parents saying "now my kid will kill in school because this game shows blood and gore..."

Some guy killed a kid in the UK and the kid that was killed owned Manhunt. And the media pounced on that like lions on a lame antelope, saying that the guy was influenced by the game to kill the kid, even though the GAME DID NOT BELONG TO THE KILLER. The lawyer of the guy said that video games are a poison to America or some political bullshit like that. Just the media and politics being fact-scrambling assholes as usual.

Nah, Mortal Kombat Deception will be pretty tame as far as media controversy coverage goes. All the attention will be put on GTA SAn Andreas for the mere fact that the game features a person of the black race involved in crime, gangs violence, drugs, prostitution and gambling.

I remember doing a paper on this last semester, about violence in the media, particularly video games.
Basically what I was arguing was the fact that violence in the media is extremely available for *anyone* to view. Kids just happen to get a bigger kick out of it because it's *taboo*, and are therefore the bigger target audience. Further more, to argue that video games incite violence is pretty much unwarrented. It's much more practical to blame the parents of the children who attempt these stunts, because they either don't teach the child the difference from what's real and what isn't, or just because more and more parents don't pay attention to what their kids are watching/playing...and then act all surprised when their kid does something potentially dangerous.
Video games don't hurt people. People hurt people. It's as simple as that. How is the violence in MK:D any different from the violence in the Iraq War, which is shown daily on almost any news station? Hense, it's a very uneducated move for a person to state that MK:D, or any other video game promotes violence.....especially for one of the presidential candidates.

I can see it now,
News Reporter - Little boy smashes his head on the floor multiple times trying to imitate a character from MKD, how do you say....Ermac. Luckly he only suffered a minor concussion. It was also said this game was banned from Australia and the UK. this is an outrage. The parents areueing for 10 million, and will probably win.
News Reporter 2 - Dont they all.

The whole issue is about blame. Who do the parents blame when something bad happens to their child? Are they going to blame themselves? Of course not. How could it possibly be the fault of the parents. So when little Billy kills himself, they are going to turn to what influenced him. If he happened to be playing Mortal Kombat in the days leading up to his death, they are going to blame the game. Simply because it is something to point a finger at. Mortal Kombat: Deception is introducing a suicide technique into their games. Controversial? You bet it is. News worthy? Even more so. You'll be hearing about MK's Hara-Kiris on the news after its release in October.

Mortal Kombat WILL NEVER BE BANNED.
Doing such an atrocity would go against all charters and constitutions guaranteeing Human Rights and Freedom of Speech. Any demonic politician who would attempt such an atrocity would automatically be dismissed and ridiculed for not knowing the laws that protect Artistic Freedom and Right of Property and so on and so forth.
Mortal Kombat caused controversy back in 1993, when most of the American population was composed of extremists and fanatics that didn't give a fuck about Freedom of Expression. Sooner or later, they calmed down/died out. GTA caused controversy because of its concept, first and foremost. You play a criminal and do all sorts of evil shit. But Mortal Kombat will not cause any controversy anymore because everybody got used to it.
Hara-Kiri ? They have Hara-Kiris in many Samurai movies. In Puccini's opera "Madame Butterfly", she commits Hara-Kiri at the end of the play. The same way that it would be impossible to ban "Madame Butterfly", it would be impossible to ban MK.
If Hell would freeze over and MK would actually get banned, gamers and free-speech advocates would be outraged and organise demonstrations and create riots and beat the living shit out of whoever could commit such a heinous and barbaric act as banning a harmless video game. The Government would be forced to un-ban it and write a chapter in the Constitution that would guarantee the protection of all works of interactive entertainment.
So all your fears are unwarrented. MK is safe forevermore. Stop worrying your fragile little minds. Need I remind you that MK:DA has an option that allows you to control the game's blood and gore. MK:D will also have that option, as well as options for turning Hara-Kiris and Death Traps on and off (especially for people that are pissed of about the cheap Death Traps that end a match too quickly and easily).

it is not the 1990's anymore. there have been many games that surpassed the MK violence level.
i am not worried, but if some boardline retard kill him self and his mom says its a video game that made him do it, her ass need to be killed.
video games don't kill people, the CIA does

well the past 5 MKs there was no ban on MK I dont see why it will happen now.
"Two 10 year old kids were replicating a game of mortal kombat deception in their back lawn this morning and one child was beaten in the game. The other child pretended to do a fatality but the child smashed his head against the floor multiple times to prevent him from being finished. Obviously MKD is to blame because of this unfortunate incident.

How many video games out there give you the option to kill yourself in a brutal manner, after you have been defeated?
Hara-Kiris are the controversy, because it gives the player the option to kill his/herself in the game. You'll hear a lot of angry parents and politicians because of this.

I wouldn't worry about MKD. I'd worry about Grand Theft Auto: SA. It's coming out at about the same time as MKD and it will stir up a hell of a lot more controversy than MKD ever will. Hell, it could go something like this:
Newsman: HOT OFF THE PRESSES, NEW SEQUEL TO THE UNDOUBTABLY EVIL GRAND THEFT AUTO FRANCHISE IS OUT!!! ALL PARENTS, HIDE YOU'RE CHILDREN FROM THIS MONSTER!!!
2nd Newsman: In other news, another violent video game called Morta-
Newsman 1: I DON'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT THAT ONE!!! BURN ROCKSTAR!!! BURN AND GO TO HELL!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!
