blade-tsung Wrote: The first one was good, but after that they were so 'story' driven, and the story made no sense, and you have an actor who sucks (Reeves) trying to get this story across to us, well... They made a mark in Hollywood history tho, can't take that away from them. |
that sounds like a challenge!!

Anyway, I havn't seen the third one yet, but on the bright side you guys didn't spoil it for me. No someone else did on the board back when Revolutions came out and they didn't put up a spoiler alert. I'll give credit where credit is due, the first movie was thought pravoking and it difined what an action movie should be, at it's time. But both sequels really diminished what the first established. It took whatever clever and unique ideas it had established in the first movie and ruined it with an overabundance of technical dialoge that half the audience wouldn't get and turned the Neo charecter into a modernday Jesus(which was uber predicatable). And to top it off the movie provided possibly the most annoying special effect ever created, which is bullet-time. It was cool in the first movie, it got tired in everything else that used it during the four year gap between the first two flicks, and was beaten to death in Reloaded. Now as far as a fourth instalment goes, I don't see why it should be made. The story has it's beginning, it's middle and it's end. And without the original cast I don't see how any money can be made from the series' fans. You know it's days like this when I wish it was Alex Winters that got the big Hollywood push instead of Keanu Reeves. It IS a great Trilogy, matter of taste, I prefer this trilogy to the Lord the rings one. How can you say the contrary if you didn't see the last one? (rolleyes) I'm won't say anything about the 4th film until it is official. I thought I was the only one who felt that way. Lord of the rings is cool and all... but the only one that dosen't really lag is the 1st. The Matrix (even though the 3rd one sucked beyond reasonable speaking) still has two good films and some good closure... oh yeah, and if we wanted to watch the trillogy all at once.. it wouldn't take a week... like LOTR. |
Imo, I prefered Revolutions over Reloaded in terms of fighting. I'm not saying that Neo's fighting were bad, bien on contraire, they were beautifully choregraphed, shot, great angle views and you see what is going on perfectly unlike lotrs with those damn shacky cams shot during battles. The Reason why I like it more is that In Revolutions, Neo give it all he got unlike in reloaded. I know that there weren't a "big" challenge for him, but in the 3rd one, he fights for a reason and he knows what is to be done.

Oh yeah,I agree with you on that last fight- that fight was Wicked, I mean, I wanted that to last longer for god sakes... like the shot's in the building... it was a really good spot and they only stayed there for a second! That trail of dust under Smith was simple, yet really cool, they needed more of that or the shot's coming from behind the rows of smiths in the windows of the buildings... the whole end part is nearly flawless to me. And some of the shit at the beginning was cool too. the I have no complaints about the beginning and the end of revolutions. It's just all that Zion bullshit that took up 70% of the damn movie- that right there is what makes me hate it. Two epic ground breaking movies were preparing me for a bunch of fucking CGI?! we already saw the sentinals! they arent that interesting dammit!

I also wished it could have last longer, but no complains there neither. Unlike you, the part in the real world went fine for me, the machine city, the spot where humans are grown. It didn't bother me like in reloaded. Not that it bothered me a lot but while watching reloaded, I just couldn't wait to see neo inside the matrix.
In the 3rd, The fight against the Sentinels was great. I just wonder why the EMP pulse they had, that seams really effective (the one cypher use againts dozer and his brother), was replaced by bullets, I know that it gave a plot point for the kid recharging the bullets but they could have invent EMP recharges aswell.

Bullets are more spectacular than EMPs. After all, it is a movie.
