Seems like Assassins Creed is part of a murder investigation.
Too tired to remember how to create a link, so please copy/paste:

The news story itself is not blaming the game, only saying they are using it as part of the investigation, but already there is a comment or two that seem to think that the game is what cause someone to kill the guy.

Obviously games lead to violence. Ever since I got Mortal Kombat I've ripped like 14 people in half.
Seriously I think the media just likes to bring up the whole violence in games causes violence in real life just for the attention. I get sick of telling people that just because I shoot people up in Halo doesn't mean I'm gonna shoot people up for real.

The media always looks for a scapegoat. Its not like the person who killed someone has a serious psychological disorder. Nope video games are to blame for everything.
Sarcasm is my first language.

....as per usual society refuses to take responsibility for its violence and instability... because it's easy to blame something or someone else instead of admitting that either the parents, society, schools, or some other human matter failed.
Parenting and adequate debriefing are crucial for helping deal with this issue and also people with unstable minds, that are prone to irrational thought patterns shouldn't play games, though the games are not why they commit these crimes, some people cannot distinguish fantasy and reality and what is appropriate behavior in the real world and what is not.
Violent crimes have been occuring for countless years before videos games got here and when video games are gone, humans will still be doing cruel things to each other.

I blame Jack Thompson...
This is a cease and dismiss order from the people of Jack Thompson. You do not have the rights to talk anything negative about good ol' Mr. Thompson otherwise he will find a way to get you in court and sue you for hurting his feelings and siding with the enemies known as the video game companies.
You are to hereby not to mention anything that has to do with Jack Thompson.
Your friend... Whoever sides with Jack Thompson.

Yeah, like those kids didn't have enough problems, video games caused them to go on that rampage.
/sarcasm if you didn't think the second paragraph was.

I was in middle school when that happened. I wasn't allowed to speak during passing periods and teachers would follow me around due to the fact I was the most well known DOOM player around.
Glad I don't have to deal with that shit anymore.

I really wouldn't find PETA's way of protesting against Mario killing mythical creatures as horrible as games being announced as murder simulations.
But, I can understand where you're coming from.

That is messed up to be honest.
And wasn't it like ruled out that they weren't even using that game as a way to recreate what they were going to do next?
Some people, honestly, take video games way to freaking seriously... They are made for pure entertainment.
I cant really tell you how big of an issue I made this be for a few papers of mine back in high school. That if the courts and all that were going to rule that video games were the cause of the person to go into killing, they would find that to be some sort of insanity ruling. The person is addicted to a video game I am well assured someone is going to find a way to turn it into a "cause of mental disorder or disease." Then hey, every killer that hears about this is going to claim that they played video games as well, they should get a easier ruling on them because they too can be diagnosed with a mental disorder for playing games.
I kinda had a heated conversation about this with a teacher... It was quite interesting with what we both had to say about this issue.

People in the past must have played videogames all day long, seeing how many wars and murders there's been throughout the ages... XD
It's so ridiculous.

I have an instance that just happened here last month locally in my hometown. This man came home drunk and slashed his daughter's throat then slashed his wife's throat and stabbed her multiple times when she tried to stop him. The news keeps pointing out that the man was addicted to playing "Samurai Warriors" for the Xbox 360 and that when he came home drunk that night, the first thing he did was go play this game then he slashed his families' throats.
Here's the story
They keep trying to blame the game for it, they also always say that the man used to be on Xbox Live all of the time too with various shooters. It's not the games, this guy was just crazy.

One of the killers, Eric Harris, was a DOOM mapper, his map can be found here (3rd from the bottom). The connection to the game was easily made due to the home video he recorded before the attack in which he held his shotgun and proclaimed "That fucking shotgun is straight out of DOOM!"
It was game haters' strongest case ever. The judge knew better when lawsuits were filed against John Carmack. He simply said the children were out of their minds. The two were on anti psychotics or anti depressants, I forget which, they weren't taking the drugs. They had pipe-bombs in their rooms and their parents never bothered to check their rooms for any reason. Id software relocated to the mayors building in the Texas town they were located in. They had police security as well due to bricks being thrown through their windows.
It was all over the news and morning shows. Showcasing the map he made, saying how gruesome it was. (all sprites and other things in the map were original assets from the game, the map was also reported not to be that good in the first place.)
To people that know Id's history like the back of their hands like me DOOM is legendary and still quite playable by today's standards. To the average moron. its a murder simulator. Now I own guns myself and I can tell you ARMA3 or BF3 are the closest you get to reality with guns. and they dont teach you ANYTHING. trigger control, maintenance, proper operation and safty nothing.
go down to a shooting range and rent a pistol, fire it at the target (even aimed) and I guarantee there is an 80% chance you will miss the entire paper at 20 feet. I did.
The jerk of a lawyer who led the crusade against video games and coined the term Murder sim, was disbarred by Governor Schwarzenegger over abuse of legal power, and you still occasionally see the guy on FOX News.

I learned how to hot wire cars after playing GTA.
I mean we just press R2 and L2 really fast right?
That's a joke by the way.
But seriously blaming Assasins creed? You learn nothing from video games as FlamigTP said I think it was him anyway shooting a gun is no easy task try shooting a desert eagle with two hands and not breaking your nose.

I've played MK: Trilogy when I was like 3 or 4, and I haven't ripped anyone's spine out or viciously murdered anyone, my parents simply taught me the difference between virtual and reality before letting me play. I'm pretty sure I've started Mortal Kombat (my first violent game franchise) with MK:T, but I think my dad said I've played MK1 before that, but I don't remember. I'm 15 years old now and not a single living human has died at my hands.

The online community are made up by people. That's not the game's fault.
