This irritates the fuck out of me on two different levels. One, obviously, is the fact that a grown man got butthurt over a game and tracked down a young kid to assault him.

What REALLY grinds my gears about this is the fucking scapegoat it has caused for the anti-gaming activists. Before it was easy to argue that games didn't lead to violence, but bad parenting did. Now, we have a fully grown man putting all the blame between himself and the video game. How the FUCK does that look for us? The people who encourage the artistic value gaming has to offer.

He has as much as a life as you do.
You do what you want and react to certain situations in a certain manner. So does he.

What's the moral?

Don't be a dick on the internet, you never know when somebody's gonna hunt you down and choke you.

I'm with Dibula on this one. This is going to give the Anti-gaming groups huge ammo against violence in video games. One emotionally stunted man decides to choke a tween and the next thing you know we're playing black ops with nerf guns. Maybe a stretch but still.

Though this does make me wonder, how many people have wanted to choke me since I first discovered the internet :p

Very nice advice.

This really does not suprise me though considering that some people dont have very good self control. This goes for both the kid and the adult.

Mortal Kombat's serious business.

As with everything unfortunatly, nuts get their hands on it too. I thought rage messages were bad....damn...I mean how stupid does this look to his children.

The anti game violence people, like the anti gun people always jump on the rare cases, the exceptions to the rule rather than rampant problems, games don't make people violent, unstable people make for violent situations. I don't see their anti-gaming nonsense getting anywhere, I'm not worried about that.

More importantly, is that kid okay?

Q: What do you call it when a 13 year old Xbox Live Troll gets throttled by someone he talked trash to?

A: A good start.

I mean...that's just horrible. Horrible news.

Wow, what a tool. I hope he spends a good while in jail for it.

A good lawyer would say that a grown man strangling a kid for name-calling, regardless of the medium, would most likely do it thanks to rooted psychological problems. Yes, in this case, it was a video game, but it would be the same outcome if the kid had prank-called him. Or insulted him in a poorly-written e-mail. Or a mistyped fax. Or 160-character text message. Or a FB wall post. Sure, people would use the game excuse and say that a child's poorly constructed/feeble mind made them susceptible to violence, but a 40-year-old? That's a terrible stretch that I hope gets thrown out as soon as it's mentioned.

If you have to literally harm someone over a video game, I am convinced that there is something wrong with you. No one here is going to say to me, "you can't say that, they're fine, they just got angry." If you have to go out to someone's house and strangle them because you lost to them via video game, you obviously have something wrong with you.

I thought when you reach a certain age, video games have less of an importance to you in your life. Forty-years old and you're reacting in the same way a young kid would act. Even though I know that a kid wouldn't go out and attempt to kill that person they lost to, but seriously.

This is why I play video games for fun, yeah I get angry with them at times, but never to a point where I'm going to hunt people down and try to kill them becuase I lost to them. Then I'd have the issues as well.

I really wish he tried to track me down and choke me. I'd have a very special surprise waiting for him.

Anyway, feel bad for the kid. Clearly the guy is insane, I hope they give him a good lengthy sentence.

This is a very misleading headline. What it should say is "Slightly unbalanced adult strangles disrespectfull brat who cleary has never been taught manners or how to respect an adult after said brat called him names and provoked him"

If I had to use insulting language towards a much older member of my family when I was a kid it would be my father I would have to be worried about. Slap on the back off the head and then my ass beaten red later. Guess what? I love my father and I turned out to be a very polite and respectfull adult. I hate the pussy-fied way people want to bring up kids these days. Don't blame games, blame the parents who unleash these foul-mouthed little shits on the world.

This reminded me of an old veteran I was talking to on the train. Colonel James he was, who fought in the Korean War (At least i believed he did, never stated what he fought in, though he mentioned about it due to a friend of his) Got to know him for a little bit, said that he lives in a Veteran Nursing House and that he was an electrician.

We started talking about family life becuase he always told me to respect my parents, even though I already did, doesn't hurt to hear it from someone else as well. A man who has four kids and six grandchildren, and the oldest of seven, I'd imagine he was a family man.

He hates how we're raising kids these days with the amount of disrespect and he even told me that if he were to be acting like how children do, he would get smacked behind the head with the leather belt.

Goes to show you how many are not too pleased with the way kids are acting these days, and I completely agree.

The bottom line is that a grown man attacked a child, disrespectful or no, it's quite evident he's sorely unbalanced.Insults are not grounds for physical assault,if you can't handle people insulting you, I don't know how you get through life at all, I really don't.

Not to mention, this generation's not that bad....people exaggerate how bad we are and after observing how many people from past generations behaved, I laugh, people say we have sex to early, people had three kids by 19 sometimes, they say we disrespect authority, they forget what everyone was doing in the 60's and 70's and questioning authority is NOT always a bad thing.

Our generation is simply a continuation of what we were all doing before, just saying and I was talking to my mom as she says our generation is very bad, then I point to very historical and socially accepted things like domestic violence from a while ago, this generation isn't perfect, but I find it highly disingenous that our group is labelled as "bad" when we're not any worse...
