Athens 2004 Olympics

I couldn't see any other thread created on this, so here it is. I don't like 'Official' threads, so I didn't make this one...

Post anything regarding the 2004 Athens Olympics here.

Athletes, sports, medal tallies, controveries, updates, predictions or just general olympic information.

There isn't much time until the opening ceremony now. There have already been several Soccer matches played.

Lets hope these games can be as good as they should be.

I for one absolutely love the Olympics! The best time I have had was 4 yrs ago when the Olympics were in Sydney. I was in Darling Harbour every night of the games back in September 2000 and the atmosphere was the most amazing thing I have ever felt & seen. So many internationals. Even at 3-4am on weekdays the city was packed full of people. I hated it when it was all over.

Maaaaaaaaaan! The opening of the Sydney Games was off the hook!!! I can't wait to see that Greece does!

I'll be watching the Judo and Fencing competitions. I don't know when the Taekwando event starts though.sad I need to find the schedule.

Yeah, I was thinking about making an "official" thread, but those are kind meh.

I'm looking forward to Athens. Looking forward to seeing if our Dream Team is going to get a rude awakening, too. tongue

One of the best things I saw was Iraq and Afghanistan walking during the introdution of the nations. Oh, and the Olympic symbol that was on fire in the water. Oh yeah, and the lighting of the torch. Ah who am I kidding, everything was great!

But, when Iraq and Afghanistan were introduced, that was just awsome.

No man. I am watching the Olympics. I am glad you are keeping up with the medals as well. Did you see the Synchronised Diving. That stuff was amazing.

Those divers were flawless.....but the chinese took that event easily

The guy from Australia, umm... Thorp(I think it was something like that) won. I was not watching I just over heard. Did he win the Gold or was it a trial? Also, I thought I heard that he broke the WR, is this true?

Yea Thorpe won gold in a different 400m event, but
Phelps wasnt swimming in the event.

Thorpe and Phelps are the 2 best swimmers in the world....Im not sure if they meet up in any events this year

Phelps just recivied his gold metal. Man I love my country, everytime I here the Star Spangle Banner I just get this great feeling.
