More news on Paul Hamm....
The IOC (International Olympic Commitee) president sat dowm lastnight for an interview with Bob Costas. When asked about the situation, he said that the rules state that after all 6 events in men's gymnastics are finished, and the final scores posted, they cannot be changed. There for, Hamm is the definite winner.
Today, Paul Hamm received a letter from the gymnastics subsidary organization for the olympics (can't recall their exact name at the moment) in which the guy in charge there asked Hamm to return his gold medal and blatantly says that the Korean guy was the real winner.
I don't know which is worse... The fact that the IOC refuses to change the scores, so the gymnastics department goes off on their own and asks Hamm for the medal back. OR the fact that they keep saying that the 1/10th of a point would of given the Korean the gold, yet fail to mention that the judges made another mistake in the scoring, and he actually should of gotten 2/10th's lower than what he did.
You are only allowed 3 "holds" on a parralel bar routine. Basically holding one position to show your arm strength. The Korean dude did 4 holds, if you go over 3, that should of been an automatic 2/10th's of a point deduction. But, the judges missed that part as well.
I don't understand how the Korean guy can make a big deal about his starting score, and say nothing about the fact that he got lucky and didn't get a 2/10th's deduction either.
I say go ahead and change the scores fairly, give him his 1/10th increase, and take away that 2/10th's he should of gotten. That would be fair right? We dn't want that though because that would of actually dropped him into 4th place instead of third. That's what aggrivates me about this whole situation, we only want the + to the score, not the minus. I almost wish they would really change it to be fair and drop him to 4th because he won't stop complaining.
I swear if they give him the 1/10th plus, but don't take away the 2/10th's I will lose all respect for olympic judging. In gymnastics anyway.

The IOC doesn't wish to admit that the judging was horrible and delve into the situation any further. They're not taking any responsibility and basically burying their heads in the ground.
Huh! As if they haven't done so before! And thanks for making that scoring issue clear, cause I didn't understand how that went down.
