Sorry for posting two threads in a row on the same day, though I believe the limit is five. Anyway, this was strongly on my mind.

I admit to not looking like the most approachable person. I don't think it's because I'm considered ugly, but because I often look angry, bored and disdainful. So I have to know, are attractive but mean-looking people still approached and hit on, and seen as some kind of fun challenge? Or do they scare people away?

It seems the girls I'm most interested in are scared of me. I look at them, but I admit to not smiling at them. The thing is, I feel smiling at them would scare them even more. Like it'd seem creepy, rather than affectionate. Smiling kindly seems almost alien to me.

While I've said I look at them, I don't stare at them for long. When walking, I may look at them then quickly look away. Does that come off not as me being shy, but rather, as me wanting to get the hell away from them, by any chance?

In the bus, they rarely sit in the same row of seats as me. I'm considering the possibility than they think I don't want them anywhere near me, rather than the other way around. I'm often hesitant to voluntarily sit right next to them, or near them, because of shyness. Not a stretch to think they might feel the same way, especially if I appear bored.

Finally, the reason I don't believe it's me being unattractive if the girls I like are staying away, is because there was a time where it seemed they were interested in me. I know my looks didn't change, so I have to wonder if it's either because my facial expressions and body language appear much more aggressive now, or if, somehow, word got around that I'm a mean person.

But maybe it's indeed because I'm not considered attractive, or I'm considered both ugly and mean.

It's awesome to know you are taking this into consideration. There was a period of time where it seemed like you made a new thread for every thought you had. :P

As for the main topic... A smile really goes a LONG way. And I don't mean a huge toothy grin, but simply a kind little smile. It's only creepy if you keep staring at them and smiling for a long time. xD

A smile makes you alot more approachable. Just try and smile slightly when you make eye-contact, and whatever their reaction, don't feel ashamed of it. Let it come as a natural reaction.

I was a VERY shy and quiet boy, but I've learnt to be better at making eye contact with people I am talking with, smiling at people to be more approachable and just say "Hi" or "Goodmorning" when passing neighbours in my apartment hallway etc.

I suffer from resting bitch face. Basically my standard expressionless face looks kind of pissed off.

The amount of times a friend would come over to me and say "wow, whats wrong?" and I'm like "nothing, its JUST. MY. FACE".

I've been making a concious effort to smile a lot more and its been combating my resting bitch face syndrome.

I seem to have this too, well it's either that or my flatmate winding me up.

I find people are usually too wrapped up in their own stuff to notice others all that much, but when i get attention, it's usually negative so be grateful for that.
(i realize that this is not as helpful as i intended)
