you are missing the concept....all boards are still open, just a new one raises from the ashes... the hole board disagrees at least it will be guaranted intelligent conversation, all post are made elswear but if it is a good topic and worthy of it, it will added to the elite or whatever discussion board.

What website are you thinking of? I know at this site, intelligent conversation doesn't usually exist between people who disagree.

I think the main thing that needs to change is some sort of reward for people moving up in rank. As it stands, it's a great system but most people don't care about it because thet don't get anything for moving up in rank. People usually need rewards for doing good things in order for them to keep doing them. Sad but true.

Then what in the Sesame Street fuck would the purpose of a Discussion Board if certain posts were chosen and others were forsaken? Who's to say that even a regular posting isn't as important as one that's profound in its own little way?

Such a superfulous idea would only favor people who were to post long winded and perhaps non-coheirent posts that would require a degree in humanities to understand. Yeah it would be nice to see more in depth postings once in a while but, this manner just defeats the entire purpose of the word 'community'. Also, such invitations for people to ramble in psudo-highly intellectual tones only facilitate their own proped up egos and drown out people with actual honest opinions. It'll de-evolve into a place entirely based on class of posting instead of a 'community' where everyone can accend to a higher rank.

A crack addicted monkey could post something memorable. Sure it might ask to suck your dick for a quarter just so it could buy a nickel bag of crack, but at least it woun't try to bullshit people into thinking it something it's not.

Maybe time and another 350 visits/postings will change your way of thinking on this.

Honestly, I wouldn't want so much attention placed on my thread. I mean... people come ang go as often as the wind everyday and every post is looked at and eventually they are relegated to the forgotton pages. It's the nature of the boards. Great postings come and go. A seperate place to admire them in a way is pheasable, but let's say that someone might feel slighted that their post didn't get chosen? The fpr months on end people will be like, "Where's my post? It was profound and intelligent. I'm telling mommy!!!"

Really, it'll cause more headaches that it will put people's postings in the spotlight. ASk anyone here about the ranking system. Some people don't agree with it and some do. Then there's the slapasses who vent and lash out against the community in general when their little post isn't revieded and their mother isn't around to breast feed them to quiet them down.

And then, people would rightfully ask of the mods of the criteria of the posts that were chosen. AS if that little can of worms doesn't need to be opened up.

Well, i don't think is the worst idea ever, but ther could be some problems regarding this "new forum", who will be the ones judging which intellient posts are worth it as there are many different criteria to weather is or not an inteliggent post.

another issue may be thousands of n00bs PM'ing mods to make their threads int o this new forum, another one would be that there would be all kinds of different thems going around, even tho you could classify them as intelligent, i dont think politics go with fatalities, and or "the best day in your life " goes with "here's my submission of a nudality".

There would be a hella of issues to fix before that happens.Cheers

Really?! Well there's little thread that I believe is now somewhere between pages 3-5 that a lot of people found interesting to post in. Bassically, everyone wanted to nominate people to be a ned moderator. Now a lot of the peeps who's names were nominated deserve to be mods in my book, but really... would you really know what kinda mod you would get?

Yeah there's a creiteria for post ratings, but it's a subjective decision that ever mod makes. One would give a post 2 Dragon Points, but another would might that same post 1 Dragon Point. See if it's not uniform, then it won't work! And it won't work cause they all cant look in every thread. And they all can't look in every thread cause mo' fo's gotta sleep. And mo' fo's gotta sleep cause if they don't, then they go on killing rampages and get seen on the evening news.

There's just too many people and not enough time in the day for people to rate posts uniformilly. There's just no praticable ideal situation that it could get done.

ok here is hopw it will come about for the 3rd time....current mods will allect new mods..........new mods and and current mods sill set up regulations.....new mods oppinions are the only ones that matter what gets on, thats why they are chosen by current mods in trust and good judgment...

It's an 'ideal' proposal, but the logistics of it all just wouldn't be worth it. This falls within the "Law of Unintended Consequences" category in addition with everything else stated in previous posts. Too many cooks always ruin the soup.

I do not support this idea at all. You are missing the main point users such as ghostdragon are trying to make you see. These "new" moderators would be flooded with PMs from different users complaining about their threads not making it onto this special forum. You would also have certain people who would brag to other members if their thread(s) were selected.

Another issue, would there be "elite" forums for each of the seven forums? Placing all these "special" threads onto this forum together would be far too cluttering.

It is also segregating the forums. There is little reason why every thread cannot share each of these forums, respectively. Spam messages are closed/deleted, and I see no large amount of threads that would make one want a seperate forum for what they call "intelligent" threads.

Good idea in theory, but there's on major problem. The mods are still human. This type of thing has been brought up before. The mods will not catch everything that is worth while, while others will add topics that aren't worth anyone's time. Then there's a trust factor. MKO has enough problems keeping up with the current set than to deal with a new set of n00b mods that delete legit posts, etc.

It's more hassle than benefit, and it would hurt more than help. You said that 'if done right' it would be perfect. The problem is, it's impossible to do right in a world run my humans.
