When I first read about the Russian School seize I was pissed. I'm not Russian but I just cannot tolerate terrorists kidnapping children. I read today that half the kidnappers were from Arab countries. Unfortunately, the consequences were great and the special forces did not capture all of the terrorists. I hope all terrorists die a slow and painful death, they're not even human.

I really don't think they should be broadcasting this stuff in the US. It may give some potenetial terrists ideas on how to fuck us up even more by doing the same thing here...

At the same time, I feel very badly for Chechnya's situation. It's tough. Nothing ever justifies some of the shitty stuff the Chechen rebels have done, but at the same time, the Russian army is infamous for the atrocities they have commited in Chechnya.

Infact, many many many Chechens died in Stalin's gulags during his reign. Russia has been dominating Chechnya for far too long, probably nowadays trying to hold onto the place because of oil reserves.

I don't understand why the Kremlin won't seriously make a move towards giving independence to Chechnya.

Despite what the lunatic terrorists do, Chechens overall are a good people I think, and after hundreds of years of Russian oppression deserve independence.

But yeah, Chechens do deserve independence IMO. They have had a horrible experience with the Russians. I may have to look up the figure, but it seems like the estimate I heard on the number of Chechens killed by the Stalin regime was like 2 million.

If the Israeli's were given a country that didn't even belong to them because of the Holocaust(6m ppl killed), I think the Chechens deserve independence of their own country, considering the treatment they have had(seriously, look up all the crap Russia has done to Chechnya).

Sorry I disagree. The idea of not broadcasting major world events in the U.S. because it will 'give the terrorists ideas' makes no sense.

But their country deserves freedom, the people there have right to be independent. So if they don't want to be Russians, so let them be what they want, if they dont harm other people after that anymore.

I have my issues with Russia, but nothing, NOTHING can justify what those terrorist bastards are doing.

Terrorism, in any way it might might represent itself, is unforgivable to me. Even if the cause is admirable (I believe that Chechenya should get its independence), no cause can justify terrorism. If you want to fight for the freedom of your country, don't take it out on children, you scum !
These bastards remind me of the FLQ (Front de Liberation du Quebec), or Quebec Liberation Front. Those miserable, low-life traitors wanted to separate Quebec from Canada (believe me, it has nothing to do with "freedom" or "independence", it has everything to do with Francophone Supremacy, Anti-Canadianism, Anti-Anglophonism and xenophobia) and resorted to bombings and kidnappings to get their "point" across. They even kidnapped a minister and executed him. Well, guess what. Their actions did not convince the World of Canada's "imperialism" and "brutality", they only showed the World that Quebec Separatists are a bunch of racist, chauvinist, xenophobic, egomaniacal, superiority complex-filled ASSHOLES ! as with any other situation one cannot judge a book by its cover, chechnyan rebels killed many children yes, it is no doubt an atrocitie, but we should not condemn all chechnyans for it.

Should all these transgressions be forgotten and forgiven? if so then i think we all have the capacity to forgive the other races and religions, open the book and read some pages often times the title can be rather dreary but the book itself is an interesting read. While were at it what about the germans, to the best of my knowledge there are still nazis in germany, and to a lesser extent the u.s. and canada. Should we forgive germany or should they forever be deemed nazis, racists, fascists, evil and cold. Or should the germans of today be forgiven their transgressions. If we can't forgive one then we can't forgive any, sure it stings but everyone has had their fair share of stings. And lastly my prayers go out to those innocent people who lost their lives, but also to the chechnyans who had nothing to do with it, but will no doubt be persecuted for it.

Where are those guys' minds at? If they want an independent Chechnya, this will remove them farther from it than ever. Also, I don't think it should be granted independence (for various reasons), perhaps just more regional autonomy.
