or they are WEIRD-ASS NAMES
ie. Jarek, Kitana, Kira, Goro, Cyrax, Sindel, Kabal, Kai, Baraka, Nitara, names that you know Boon and co. just pulled from their asses

Kitana is a thing too. It is a samurai sword slightly different from the nina sword. How about Cultor!

some of the weirder names are actually pretty well thought-out and interesting...

Kitana- name derived from a Japanese type of sword

Goro- a fairly present Japanese name... usually given to those with physical strength but lacking intelligence

Kai- also a Japanese word... forget what it means though

Kabal- taken from the word cabal, which means a small group in a secret intrigue; a plot... however, i think Kabal was more inspired from the movie/game named Cabal

Cyrax- only speculating, but i think it's something to do with him being a cyborg... Cy-rax, cy-borg

Mavado- translates into 'evil-doer' in Spanish

Bo' Rai Cho- taken from a Spanish word for drunkard, borracho

Nitara- Nit=night... vampires can only be out at night... tara could be adding a real english name, or another Spanish thing... many Spanish words that are feminine end in tara

Kintaro- same spanish thing... only taro would be masculine, like Motaro... couldn't tell you what the Kin and Mo are from, but probably a derivative of a Japanese or Spanish word

and you forgot to mention that almost every name in MK is spelled with a 'K' even if it isn't phonetically correct(with the exception of Johnny Cage): Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kitana, Kintaro, Kenshi, Kabal, Kurtis Stryker, Kano, Kai, SeKtor, MoKap, BaraKa, Shao Kahn, Kira, Khameleon, ShinnoK....

there are a lot of M's too: Mavado, Motaro, Mokap (again), Mileena, Meat, Moloch

beleive it or not Cyrax is not a weird word its actually a "thing" i think its some sort of toxic element or somthing, but i do know its a real thing.
