Figured I'd make a Dead or Alive thread since it seems as though the only other one was made back in September talking about the announcement of the game.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm SOOOOOOOO excited for this game to come out. I'm drooling over it! I check for new information pretty much every day.
I think the game looks absolutely beautiful and I honestly didn't think DOA 4 would be able to be topped in regards to the aesthetics but I was sadly mistaken. Though I do think they could tone down the stages a bit but hey...I'm happy either way.
It's like MK 2011 all over again! Is anyone else as excited for this as I am? And also if you are getting the game, what system are you getting it for? 360 for me!
Here are some demo videos put up from the last couple of months. Enjoy!

I have the game preordered. Been a while since I played, and the last time was an arcade in a bus station, if I recall it was 3.
Not that much into the series, so I can't say who I'm looking forward to most. But I'll find a main when I play.

I was just waiting for them to confirm Leifang then I'd preorder and they did so I guess I'm going to gamestop sometime next week. All the other characters look great too but she's been my main ever since the first game.

Just pre-ordered on my way home from the gym. I talked to the clerk a little bit and he said he's gonna try and get his manager to host a tournament for this game and Tekken Tag 2. I hope they do! September can't get here any sooner.

True..but Itagaki also said it was perfected and couldn't get any better "at the present time" (paraphrasing)
While I believe that DOA 4 was and still is a great game (I still play to this day) there's always something to be expanded upon and to make better. Also, with the fighters that came out last year and the ones coming out this year, I'd like to see how well the series it would fare against the competition this time around.

Updated original post with E3 montage. Tina and Sarah Bryant of Virtua Fighter are confirmed. Plus some new wacky outfits and old favorites from past games.
It seems as though everyone might have a circus themed outfit. I guess we'll just wait and see...I really hope that's not the case though.

Oh wow, Sarah's confirmed too!? I didn't even see that! Most of the coverage of DOA5 has been kinda spotty at best on the main game sites. Not sure why.
As for DOA, it's always been one of my favorites. So many hours spent with my lady passing the controller back and forth, trying to get the most wins and points on survival mode. I will say this though, and I'm sure a lot of people will disagree, but I didn't like DOA4 nearly as much as DOA3.
It was really just a lot of small things for me: DOA4 took out the mid-air throws, which I loved. They also took out the ability to hit the computer multiple times when they were on the ground in survival mode.
They also ratcheted up the difficulty which, to me at least, really seemed to unbalance things, especially given how much counters took off in DOA4. It seemed like 3 counters from the CPU and you were basically done for.
The last small thing, why could I only enter one name in when I made the big board or even the individual character boards in survival mode? DOA is one of the few fighting games that I can get my lady to play with me and while she could get 100 wins on DOA3's board, she wouldn't even bother playing survival on DOA4 because she couldn't enter her name in.
Oh well, DOA4 was still fun, don't get me wrong. It looked great and the new characters were solid (not a huge fan of Elliot, who seemed to much like Gen Fu) but we'll still pull out DOA3 every now and then and play. DOA4, not so much.
As for DOA5, I think it looks AWESOME, and the inclusion of VF characters is freakin fantastic. Love VF as well. Are there any other VF characters rumored to be making an appearance? Shun Di FTW!!

As much as i really like the Dead or Alive series, I really don't see anything that even looks remotely new in the game aside from some improved looking character models. Even at that some of them just look entirely different (Hitomi especially).
I'll most likely end up getting it, I'm just waiting to see more of it.

I don't think you'd be alone in stating that DOA3 was superior to DOA4. I think a lot of DOA fans on this board may agree with you surprisingly. Maybe this game will fix the balance issues that DOA4 seemed to have. One thing that worries me about footage from the game is when the health bar starts glowing red after the characters vitality drops to 50% or lower. I REALLY hope this isn't a rage mechanic and just a visible marker to know when your power blows are available. This game really doesn't need a rage system. Like seriously.
and yes! How could I could I have forgotten about Kokoro? She was in the E3 trailer I posted hahaha! Thanks for picking that up Baraka!
Also....OP updated with a crap load of new gameplay vids, ENJOY!
