Déjà-vu: The sensation that you're doing something that you have done before.

I've experienced a lot of these, the most recent one being a few minutes ago; I was stapling some bills while my co-workers were chatting behind me and I was looking through the "Boot and Immune" thread, and as soon as I saw oafatron83's avatar, it was like something clicked in my mind, as if I had seen/done all of this before. Some might say that it's because I'm used to a routine, but one of my co-workers only started last week, and his cubicle has been re-arranged today as I "remembered it" in my déjà-vu.

Has anyone else experienced one? If so, when/how did it happen?

I get it all the time, as I'm sure u guys do.

It bothers me that nobody has ever really tried to do any in depth serious study of Deja'Vu.

If it happens so much, there must be something inside of us that can forsee events to yet happen, perhaps in dream state?

I believe it's been either theorized or proven that an instance of deja-vu is a chemical misfire in the brain, causing new information to be translated as old information, i.e. a memory.

Also, an instance of deja vu is also defined as a glitch in the Matrix when something has been changed.

Now that I think of it, I did have a déjà-vu that was once from a dream. Who knows what kind of powers our minds have?

Ah that is cool, sounds like something that could be correct too. But I wonder, what the circumstances are to make ur brain 'misfire'. Temperature? Stress? Change in altitude? etc..

I thank you for the answer, now we must probe that even deeper.

Our mind is yet a gate...with a myriad of things that we cant even think of and has yet to be open.

Ok that was me trying to sound cool/poetic. Lol.

Our mind sees events a bit faster than our eyes so when your watching something it has happened a fraction of second before. Sometimes our mind treat it like it had happened a long time ago but that is not real. thats a Déjà-vu.

Yeah, I get it sometimes. I look around when something's happening, and it seems so familar to me, yet it never happened before.

I have my own theory about it, but I'm not sure if the mods would consider it acceptable. Oh well, here goes anyways:

The way I see it, when we die, we ARE reincarnated. Here's the catch, though: Our new life is actually our old one. The way I see it, we live the same life we're actually living at this very moment over and over and over again. Now I'm not sure if we do this eternally or if we do this until we get something right, but that's why some things/situations seem TOO familiar: Because we've lived 'em already.

P.S. I've done my best to not include anything about religion in my post, and out of respect to Jerrod, I'd appreciate it if nobody else did if they quote me or have another theory of their own.

Huh! That's really interesting. Gotta hit up google to research this more.

I've had Deva Vu similar to what everyone has experienced. But also I've had somethings else. For example, I'd have a detailed dream about doing something that I've never done before or being somewhere I've never been before. The strange thing is maybe weeks or months down the line, I find myself in the middle of doing something or being somewhere and then remembering the specific dream as if it was Deja Vu. It's kinda wierd, yet intriging to experience.

It used to happen occasionally when I was younger, but rarely since. Maybe I sould go back to focusing my chi. wink I've only known one person who had the same thing happen to him.

Hmmmmmmmm.... Maybe will sould go back to focusing my chi. I dunno. *shrugges shoulders* wink

Wow, that's a very cool theory MKSECRETS. I would've never thought of that.

i have premonition dreams.i can see events in my dream that acts out in reality within days or weeks.sometimes if i remember my dream then it won't happen as if i changed my future but when i don't think about them-then it happens.thats why i always take my dreams in consideration so i can prepare my self for it(ex. if i get into a fight in school).

You did your best indeed wink
Not sure about it, but I've always like the idea to imagine that when you die, you aren't really dying but your soul and spirit is leaving your body to live again in another one. You aren't really dying and it helps to look at Death like a transition and not the ending of your existence.
Not sure If I have experienced any déjà-vu.

Deja-Vu is pretty freaky. Sometimes when I experience it its only for a split second. But this one time My friend was over and she was telling me a story. Then it started. For about 2 whole minutes I knew everything she was saying. Every single word out of her mouth I knew what she was gonna say. And towards the end of the story I actually finished the sentence WITH her. It scared the shit outta both of us. Deja-Vu is pretty freaky. Sometimes when I experience it its only for a split second. You dont know how happy i am to see this thread. I was actually gonna make one right this second, i've always wanted to because i'm very interested in Deja Vu.

Anyways, i get Deja Vu ALL the time. Rather than it freaking me out, i find it interesting. I also agree with the whole past life concept, it makes perfect sense to me. Also, TONS of the things i dream always turn out to happen and thats when i recall that particular moment....in my dream. Alot of my dreams are awesome, and i always remember them as well as record them. I'm an expert Lucid Dreamer to, and i can control my dreams in anyway i want to. I've practised this ever since i was little until i can do it.

I dont only get Deja Vu though, i also get Jamais Vu and Presque Vu.

JAMAIS VU: The feeling of being a stranger when with a person one knows or when in a familiar place.;illusion of failure to recognise a familiar situation.

PRESQUE VU: An indication or warning of a future occurrence; an omen.;A feeling or intuition of what is going to occur; a presentiment.(Basically, seeing events of the future, rarely happens, its pretty freaky.)

Last night I had a dream that me and my friend were driving in his car and we saw a lion on the side of the road. Just a little while ago, a lion broke out of a zoo or something about 10 minutes from my house.

I never experience dejavu really. I guess its because I can foresee every little detail about any event in the future.

One time I was dreaming and a phone rang and I woke up and a phone rang.

I experience deja vu like anyone else, just not very often. Unfortunately I tend to take somewhat of a minimalistic view towards it. I think it's just a short-circuit inside our brain, associating one nerve pathway with another, which triggers a memory.
