If it is true why not show something we haven't witnessed yet?So we'll be prepared for it if it comes. Then again I think it's fake.

~sigh~
Look, not all of what he predicted came true. So to ssay that he predicted the future is reaching a bit if you're of the belief that he was mad. However, it can be said that though some events that can be attributed to his predictions, some of what he claimed he saw was vague at best.
However, I'm not one to totaly overlook what history has recorded. He spoke in some detail of the rise of the Nazi and Hitler. In the movie about his life played by Trechy Kharyo, he drew the sign of the swastika (Originaly a Buddhist symbol used by the Japanese for centuries to be taken by the Nazi's and used as their own symbol for unity)
It's intriguing to think about his predictions and not feel that in a general sense, he was warning humanity of it's inevitable pitfalls. But I will say that with regards to his visions of Nazi Germany rising to threaten the world, he obviously had some insight of the future to see the horror that they inflicted on Europe.
It would seem that that which has come to pass were events that were pivital in the history of many nations. Now the question is whether some of his predictions had or will have a bearing on our history.

One day fire will explode up into the air,and a war will be started by Mabus something in the air will hit a New City.
Keywords:
Fire Will Explode in the air-The 2nd plane I think made the huge fireball at the WTC.Correct me if Im wrong.
On the show Mabus could mean "Osmabush".
and it's obvious that New City meant New York.
Im still kinda so and so on this. But the WTC prediction was dead on if it was true.
Edit:Don't close the thread,GD explained.

AH! I've heard of this quote before. I actually think that this quote was refering to 9/11 myself. No, trying to decypher the language of that era where it's understandable by our standards is near impossible, but like I sad when I think that he may have seen the most pivital events of our history in some way.
They say he predicted the stock market crash early in the 1920's as well.

WHA?!
I'm not speaking on that matter cause it has no bearing here. But such a fallacious statement has to be countered with the fact that Nostradmous was born in the 16th century. So proclaiming him as a prophet is a bit of a stretch.

And I'm still waiting for that meteorite that was suppaosed to fall in 1999...'
That guy said a bunch of vague things and people interpret them however they want...
Nostradamus was a paranoid guy who had weird dreams and made them into vague ryhming prohecies. He claimed the world would end 4 years ago. The "New City" everyone thinks is New York was Napels. The coordinates he gave for 9/11 were way off, in Canada. According to one book, Nostradmus said the antichrist was some guy who died 25 years ago. Then it became Saddam Hussein. Now the new antichrist is Osama Bin Laden. It changes with the times. He also said the Soviet Union would end the world. Soviet Union's gone. Been gone for a while.

I love Bullshit! My favorite episode was the one on Peta.
Anyway, I never bought into the Nostrdomus predictions. I'll admit, what we've had explained to us from "experts" tends to sound precise, but we're hearing this from a secondhand source. People interpret things differently, and occasionally put their own spin on it. Nostradomus may have just been some guy who had a very gloomy outlook on society and had trippy dreams (heh sounds like me).
One more thing, as far as religion goes, this thread doesn't even have to go there. There have been plenty of claimed prophets, and yes some are mentioned in scriptures, but there are better depictions of said prophets in actual history books. I do wish that we would be at least given a chance to separate fact from fiction when it comes to religion, but unfortunatly we can't. What I can offer though is this piece of advice: try and catch the Penn and Teller: Bullshit! episode on religion.
-Speaking about Nostradamus does not mean you have to speak about the Bible or religion or whatever. So ignore what that idiot wrote.
-The 9/11 "quatrain" that surfaced after the attacks is fake. I laughed my ass off watching "experts" show up on talk shows to shock the world when it was all bullshit.
-Lots of things he said (when interpreted in a certain way) DID come true. Lots of other things didn't.
Now, here are some of my favorite prophecies of his:
-He claimed that there would be 3 Anti-Christs. The first one was Napoleon. The second one was Hitler. The name given to the third one was Mabus, which SOME claim to be Saddam, spelled backwards. The interesting thing about Hitler is that he was named by Nostradamus...almost. The name that appears is "Hister", and this is what is said about him in the following quatrain (5, Q29, for those interested):
"Liberty will not be regained,
It will be occupied by a black, proud,
villainous and unjust man:
When the matter of the Pontiff is
opened,
The republic of Venice
will be vexed by Hister."
The first line talks about Hitler "temporarily" suspeding individual civil rights because of a suposed national emergency (the beginning of the Nazi regime in 1933). The villainous man he talks about could be anyone from Heinrich Himmler to Mussolini. The final line references the many meetings between Mussolini and Hitler in Italy.
-IMO, one of the most accurate prophecies of his was the one where he predicted BOTH Kennedy assassinations (1, Q26):
"The great man will be struck down in
the day by a thunderbolt,
The evil deed predicted by the bearer
of a petition:
According to the prediction another
falls at night time,
Conflict in Reims, London, and
pestilence in Tuscany."
The only thing I could clarify farther is what he meant by "the bearer of a petition." Most experts agree he is talking about the famous prophet Jeane Dixon, who predicted JFK's assassination in 1956. The last line talks about events that were occuring in the world around the time of RFK's death: rios in France (Reims) and London in 1968-69 and the 1966 flood in Florence, when people feared there would be pestilence in Tuscany following the flood.
-Nostradamus made several predictions regarding WW3, Armageddon, Nuclear War, etc., but one of the most frightening ones (since he gave a date; luckily, that date passed and nothing happened) was this one:
"In the year 1999 and seven months,
A great King of Terror will come from
the sky.
He will bring back the great King
Genghis Khan.
Before and after Mars rules happily."
There are many, MANY other prophecies of his that I consider very interesting, and many others that were eerily accurate. Anybody interested can PM me or ask about 'em here and I'll gladly post 'em.

Why? Why would his visions of the future be based on the USA. little visions of the rest of the world but we'll never know if he actually knew what was going to happen. i caught that specail in may and it made me think. but i dont think his prophicies are really true to what we think they mean. thats why we interpret and then think of what happes but until we can crack the space time continum and havee a time machine then we can find out what really happened. |
Yeah,my Grandmother said the exact same thing.
