I know that threads directed at users of this site are not allowed, but I think this story may have relevance to other people too. People that play games online, people who know me, and especially the people who know the people involved.
There is something I want to share here with all of you. I know that the PS2 and XBOX tournament forum are probably the least liked parts of this site, for good reason. The amount of flaming that goes on there is enormous, and half of the users there are completely immature. A notorious figure among these is JTF, a British player of MKD on PS2. To cut a long story short: he's constantly been a notorious pain in the ass to everyone, and been banned at least under ten different accounts for harrassing other users. Now I unfortunately allowed him to participate un a tournament I had set up. He advanced into the second round and lost to TGrant. He claimed that he lost unjustly, and when I refused to give in to his demands, he sent me this to my mail address:

Did I tell you I was a web programmer? Anyway, the page is just an example. I am going to change the URL to one you don't know about. Then I'm going to use my web skills to optimise the site for the search engines. In 3-6 weeks, I'll have it picked up by Google, Yahoo, MSN etc and that photo and your name will become associated with a vicious evil child rapist all over the world.
I will also post the link on every message board and child care website I can find, especially those from Belgium.
Of course, not everyone will believe it, but if 1 in 10 do then there will still be thousands of people all over the world who know you for what (they think) you are....
Just think, all over the Internet, that photo will pop up whenever anyone searches for known paedophiles in Belgium or Europe...
But that's just the start...
See, I knew where you were from - Merelbeke and what university you went to but I didn't know your name. Then, a stroke of luck - you started emailing me and now I know your name.
And I also have a very good friend who not only lives in Gent but is an administrator at....you guessed it - the 'Universiteit Gent'.
She's on holiday now but when she gets back she's promised me that she will be able to find your home address and telephone number on the computer and give it to me. (I told her you were an old friend and I wanted to make a surprise visit).
I'm guessing this is your parents' address, VQ. I heard that your parents are scientists who perform vivisection on helpless animals. I wonder how those militant animal liberation people would feel if I posted your details on one of their websites?
I also hear your parents are Muslim, VQ and may possibly have something to do with waging war against the West. There must be plenty of right wing nuts far worse than the Vlaams Blok who would be keen to get your address and phone number.
There are endless possibilites....
Anyway, did I mention that my friend has invited me to come and stay with her any time I like? I would so love to come to Belgium, VQ. I need a holiday and Belgium sounds so pretty. I wonder where exactly in Merelbeke you're from?
Bottelare? Lemberge? Melsen? Merelbeke proper? Munte? Schelderode?
Anyway, we could meet up, have a drink, eat some chocolates....and you could show me whether life imitates art, and fair, skilled fighters can beat dirty, unfair fighters in real life...
Then I could pay a visit to your university and hand out a few leaflets - I thought a cut down copy of the webpage would look nice - warn people about you. I wonder if I'd meet anyone who knew you?
As things stand at the moment, none of this has happened. No one knows about the page, no details have been posted anywhere and although I will be visiting Gent in the near future to see my friend I have made no plans yet to visit Merelbeke or your university.
I am prepared to take down the page, destroy it, forget you ever existed and ensure you never hear from me again providing you do 3 or 4 small things for me.
If you want to know what they are, reply to this email and let me know.
If I don't hear from you, I will assume you are attempting to call my bluff or you are not interested and I will go ahead with my plan to make you and your family famous....
And after you read this email I shan't be sending you IMs on the MKO site any more so be sure to keep checking your email...
It's ironic, when you think about it - that your post that started all of this was called 'Sweet Revenge' because that is what I am going to have now with you, VQ.

It gets better. Of course, I reported him (and his IP addresses and everything) to the local cyber crime unit for blackmail and slander, closed down my old e-mail address (except for archive purposes because this is obviously evidence) and told him that if he'd ever hear from me again, it'd be in a court room.
He found a way once more around his ban on MKO and sent me the following message:

Poor scared VQ... I got your email. It made me laugh. I thought I would save you some time and explain why there is nothing you can do to me. Firstly, you have no idea who I am or where I live or what my real IP address is. Trust me.
Secondly, I promise you that the Gent police cybersquad are not going to be knocking down my door any day soon. Even if they could somehow find me, you really think they are going to spend the time and money mounting an international investigation to sort out a quarrel between two video game players?! LMFAO!
You have no hope of finding me, no hope of prosecuting me and no hope of taking me to court.
But I can find you, VQ. And there is no law in looking up an old friend, is there?
It is the rest of your family I feel sorry for, VQ. I am sure they would not be too happy to learn their name and address and phone number were put on some of the most vile Internet sites on the web because you would rather have your friend cheat at a video game than replay one match.
Give it a few weeks or months at the most and start looking for your name and your picture in the search engines, VQ.
This never should have happened but you made it happen and now the next few months and years are going to be the worst of your life. Be wary of every knock on the door, every ring on the phone, every guy that looks at you funny in the street. And tell your parents and brother to do the same.
I hope TGrant appreciates what you are doing for him. Maybe next time you make a tournament you should be a little clearer on the rules...
I am going to do EVERYTHING I mentioned in my email to the letter.

Clearly this guy is insane. I half expect him to pop up in this thread continuing this shit. So, now you know what it's like to be stalked and harrassed by a true psychopath. And if I ought to believe him, it's not the first time he's doing this to someone.
Zit-faced rage? Think again. According to rumours this guy is actually about 30 years old.
So, in the near future you may or may not see my picture or data associated with child rapists and the scum of the earth. But if you do, it's thanks to this pathetic excuse for a human being. He should be locked up in a mental institution.
