I didn't mean it like that. What I meant was that to block off someone from the forums just because they are seen as "n00bs" by others would be. If they continually flame and waste bandwidth with meaningless dribble, that's another story.

Yeah i can see what you mean.
I do draw a line between a n00b and a newbie though, the latter is just somebody new to the site, which i think everybody is actually quite excepting of, as long as they can punctuate to a decent degree, spell at least 70% of their words right, and don't intentionally try to piss people off. A "n00b" on the other hand is the total opposite in my eyes.

Heh, i wonder what Boon thinks about people using his name to describe the dickhead populace on Mortal Kombat message boards.

Actually, I was thinking more in the line of "who the hell are you"? You previous two people, for example, I don't know! Who are you! When on earth did you get here! You really can't go by that number under your name (since I'm logged on for long intervals and have been here about seven months), yet you people have already trounced me. Still, I don't know you! You're not familiar! But... yeah, I agree that anyone under fifteen should be kicked off. THis is a mature, serious forum, people! Damn right! Now, it's time for my beddie-bye.

You've only been here 7 months? Dude, I clearly remember you pre-2004. As for every other thing you said, I agree with you 100%.

I also agree but after MKD is out for a little while the boards will be (hopefully) back to the users before.

I don't really mind the new people but some of these threads like previously mentioned are very out of place.

I don't mind all the people, I just hate all the noobs posting complete crap. I would love to have lots more people that didn't act like complete goofs. But, that's the way things go.

Oh, and, I've been here for, what, 2, 3 years now?
Something like that.
I don't remember. :\
I wasn't here in the gamers.com days, although I was familiar with the site.
I joined the forums shortly after that.

And, yeah, too many children, yeah, must.. kill...

I remember very fondly those days of yore. And it just seems like everything has changed so much since I joined, which will be three years ago I think as of next week, (or maybe only two years ago, I can't remember lol tongue)

I hardly talk to anyone who I made friends with at that time anymore. Garlador and NeoScorpion are the only ones really. Its kind of sad that people who made this site something to remember have left. And eventhough BlackSaibot and VenoMark were never my favorite of board members, I still miss their presence.

Oh my God I even remember the first person I ever started to talk to consistently on this site. KLoosedapimp. Does anyone remember him? He was a nice guy. I wonder whatever happened to him.

I don't think you can have too many people in forums but you can obviously have more than enough n00bs but fortunately, i haven't seen any at least i don't think so . . .

Well, too much is when you make a post and it's off the page in 10 minutes. We have a comfortable amount of people, last time I heard the statistics.

I don't really have a problem with the number of people on the site, or the amount of new people signing up. That's a good thing. But it is annoying to see people creating threads with a subject that has already been covered in 3 or 4 other threads. I've been coming here since the MK5.org days, right around the time it was learned that MK5 would be called Deadly Alliance, but I didn't sign up until very recently. I'll put my two cents in on some topics, but I've never once started a thread of my own on a subject because whatever idea I have or whatever I want to talk about has most likely already been covered in a previous thread. You just have to look for it. I wish more of the users here would do the same.

I agree with you totally dude. I dont mind new guys, cause a good friend of mine from school is a new member to this site, but i hate when people (old and new) make threads which the only purpose seems to be to annoy, or get attention.
To be honest I still consider myself a new guy at this site, mainly because I only became a member around when it was first announced that there will be an MK6 game. But the main reason was just to post some of my fakes and artworks because i loved to get feedback from such talented people. (You know who you are wink) and since then i have been trying to go by the example of good people like Temp, Crow, Novastarr, and Illusion.
And i wont die out just as soon as MKD comes out, Im hoping to stay on till MK 7980, The Last Kombatant (LOL) and maybe one day be regarded as one of those "veterans" who i look up to.
Well, theres my 2 cents smile

I can see what your saying...
But have you ever tried doing that?
Nobody wants to search through 20 minutes of old threads to find out if anybody has made a thread about what your favourite type of shoe is, sure it'd be better if they did, but c'mon. It's just unreasonable.

Maybe we should put the communityfaq more noticable because when I first came here I couldn't even find it
to understand what not to do.I end up getting alot of skulls because I didn't know the rules, which was my fault.I hope they put it in big capital letters above the screen or leave it how it is or they can make a system that automatically sends you a letter of the communityfaq to your inbox.

It's a simple as this. Without so many people coming here MKO wouldn't be viable. Of course when MKD comes out, there's gonna be a flood of old and new coming here. Then like 4 months after, the traffic is going to die down. Some old and new people will stay on as regulars and most new people will never come back. BUt at least they will spread the word that MKO is the place to shoot the shit with people and find out stuff about the franchise.

It's kinda sad to get to know a bloke over 3-4 months then, they suddenly don't resurface until the next game comes out, but that's how it is around here and I suspect everywhere else on the net. Yeah it's annoying to see that people who havent's shown their faces in years suddenly show up to busy the server. At least they'll still have a place to come and talk about anything and everything that deals with Mortal Kombat. I mean, isn't that the purpose of this place?

But I will say that a crackdown on people who only sign up to spam the boards should be strict when MKD is released. Perhaps throwing people to lions or boiling them in oil would be options to consider. But I suppose the 'humaine' thing to do, if you wanna go the non-sadistic route, is to simply ban the tossers.

That's just my two cents... plus a quarter. winktongue

Nah. You want people to jump right in and start contributing to subtantive discussions when they first sign up. Doing that would turn people off. Think if that were to happen. What about some of the cool people already contributing that have under 500 visits? They'd pretty much be S.O.L. and feel alienated. I'm sure you wouldn't like that. wink
