I know what you mean - I dont even bother visiting that forum any more. Its just people recommending that faq and some important stickies (some people just copy and paste the same thing like 10 times). I dont think DP's should be given out for that, because now it is just being exploited.

No, I agree with you 100% I'm going to be very honest, majority of the time people "help out" by linking the FAQ to every intro thread, only do it for the sake of getting precious precious dragon points. I can even name a few people who are doing it for the sake of DPs. I seriously think giving DPs to people who link the faq should be disallowed.

If you answer a question that someone needed help with, you get a DP. If you win games like SOTW for example, you get DPs. The only reason why it takes so "long" to rank up is because 75 DPs to go from Mortal to Warrior is a lot and a bit much to rank up once. That was supposed to be corrected with newer ranks that can be gained with less DPs to make it more interesting, but the admin. never found time to do that.
