Excruciatingly difficult at times, but always fair. Combat is tight as heck. Great game, but don't expect to complete it in a sitting or two. It's a commitment. I have yet to beat it.

I've never played it, but I did watch Cr1TiKaL play Dark Souls (he tells a good story in the video about how everything in Dark Souls is a challenge). It doesn't appear to be my type of game, but that does not mean you won't like it either.
