To any RE fans on here,

Do you prefer the older more Survival Horror based games like Resident Evil 1,2, and 3? Or do you prefer the Action based games like Resident Evil 4 and 5?

I personally, prefer the older games. They were much scarier and had some really hard puzzels. I think they were much more satisfying to play. The newer games were fun, but didn't even feel like Resident Evil to me. With Leon doing cartwheels over lasers and Chris punching boulders, it felt like a completely different game.

I liked the scary element of the old ones. 4 was the only "new" resident evil I liked.

My favorite will always be Resident Evil 2. Not because of the nostalgia, but because of scenes like this and this. I really cared for the characters in RE2, but in RE4 Leon is just a badass who had seen it all. Guy had about as much personality as a rock.

REmake, 2 and 3 remain favorites. I loved 4 in it's heyday, but becoming accustomed to a better controller and an HD tv have rendered my GameCube copy unplayable. I'm skeptical on getting the HD digital version, because I'm certain it's based on the PS2 version. Ew.

5 was interesting for the story in my eyes, for no matter how far removed the setting and gameplay were from the classics, the narrative still keeps me coming back.

I'll say I prefer the older games for their total nicheness and legitimately spooky atmosphere. Nemesis in particular gave me nightmares.

Nothing against androgynous people, but some of them scare me sometimes. The face of La Roux here is one of those people. I'm subjected to her at work via music videos, and some of her expressions during Bulletproof freak me out... not to mention I'd respect her more if the music didn't sound like a three year old made it.
