I've had one of the shittier mornings of my life today
Sorry to hear that man. Hope things get better for ya as the day goes on. At least it's Friday?
Yeah I know I'm talking about it, but I cannot believe how much coverage the Drew Peterson case is STILL getting after the jury made their verdict. I don't want to know what life is like for him now that he's guilty, I really don't care. Tell me something that had happened in my city, or something... Oh, I heard that the Democratic party had their speaker talk to the audience. Despite that I am a Republican, I wouldn't mind hearing what their speaker had to say. I'd rather know stuff about that instead of the fucking Drew Peterson case.
Seriously.

True story, it happened to a friend of a friend of mine... EVERYBODY!
If you're really a family man, you shouldn't have to go out of your way to prove it. Talking about his dead father's advice, being highschool sweethearts with his wife & and cramming that kid's proposal onstage seemed too played out. Almost like a dang country song, y'all. Only thing missing was a hound dog 'n a pickup truck.
Obama was right on when he said the republican campaign was like decades past. People may vote for the nostalgia air of the campaign.
Obama tried to pass some stuff, but congress voted no on it. Obama wasn't just a worldwide phenomenon, change takes time. Nobody expected things to change overnight. Let the man finish what WE started.

Now if there was an atheist/agnostic president who believed in rationality over religion, I'd vote for him in a second. Of course, that will never happen since America is considered a Christian nation. *sigh*

I hate politics. I don't vote because I can't trust the candidates. They just tell people what they want to hear. I see voting as picking the lesser of two evils, rather than picking who I believe would be a better president.

According to the most recent data I've seen, Christians make up roughly 70% of this country. I don't know if that's "practicing Christians" or to what degree they're practicing their faith, but I think that because the percentages are so large, at least some candidates have to do the whole "go to church" thing and talk about faith etc because they need to be liked by a majority to get elected.
Is it disingenuous? Absolutely. Why a public figure can't be seen as smart and have civic pride without being religious is beyond me, but alot of the lip service and BS politicians have to throw out there, I think, is thrust upon them by the general public.
It's why you hear candidates on both sides speaking about patriotism, family, faith, etc because if they actually get in to the nuts and bolts of their jobs plan or their economic stimulus package and actually talk numbers that aren't slanted to make them look better, people will change the channel at best.
At worst? The people that do listen and don't like what they hear won't vote for them. I know that sounds shady, but the best way to get the most people to like you is to look strong, talk strong, and say nothing. That's what the media, corporate money, union money and the public at large have turned politics in to and we have no one to blame but ourselves.
You want to see what candidates actually stand for? Look online at their voting records. See what legislation they've introduced or championed throughout their careers. Look at their candidate profiles to see what they have to say about specific issues.
They exist and have voting records and they attempt the business of representing a district or a state or a country. They both have huge groups of smart people around them and they both have plans.
All you have to do is find out which candidate you identify with more based on what they actually say and do and not the 10 cent drops we get from Fox News, the Daily Show or the usual campaign generalizations, jingoist propaganda and run of the mill "I luv Merica" rhetoric.
WOAH.. Just... Wow...

No offense but an atheist being elected is improbable for the reasons you said.
Anyway, Obama is a joke who has the same lobbyist from Goldman Sachs who plagued America in the first place. Then Romney Fascist the guy who sends jobs to China and then talks about getting those jobs back he's the biggest war mongering joke of them all.
And, the fact that he really did create Obamacare makes him a joke. He only appeals to the rich and Evangelists.
I'm an Orthodox Christian and I can see how greedy he is. Also, according to the bible Mormonism is false doctrine so he has filled up the BS meter a lot to me.
Obama supports the Patriot Act and creates CISPA, HR 347 and NDAA. Plus he wants us to get micro chipped fuck that man.
Lastly they are not about unifying the people. Why do you think America has the homosexual debate so they can keep us divided. Thats the gimmick the plan that they have because if were together against them there is no way in hell they can win.
But you know what people will vote for Obama because he supports gay rights and the fact that he is black(I'm black). He just grabs social issues and literally take a huge SHIT on ROMNEY.
Because, Romney will supposedly does not support gay rights, never will be for the middle class. He's a huge jack-off and a scam artist. All he has to say is "I believe in God and marriage should be traditional." Then blam! Here comes the array of the bigoted voters that are not suppose to judge to the rescue.
Then the Obama fans comes to the rescue not knowing that there gay rights supporter is signing American troops over in the dam U.N. Bill! Then intentionally creates martial law! Hello there sheep I just bought you over WITHOUT discussing the economy.
UNTIL THE FEDS are audited America will always lose! There is no win for us at all! They are all bought and paid for by the banks!

I don't want an atheist as president, because generally they're no better than the Christians.
Both groups want all others to suscribe to what they believe, and they condemn any other notion that comes along.
Obviously they're not all that way, but until one that isn't decides to run, I don't want either.

I just don't think you should HAVE to believe in God to be president. It's not really fair.

Our neighbor, Sweden, will have a Muslim majority by 2045. We have Muslims in Finland too and I've come to know a few; I have a positive opinion about them in general – topnotch immigrants willing to fit in. But Obama isn't a strong supporter of religion, is he? I know Romney is.

No they photoshopped it to make it look less "perfect" just.

I don't think a country should be ran under a particular group's beliefs, especially a country that's supposed to be a democracy and the "land of equal opportunity."

by the way that jade photo is nice! booty booty rocking everywhere, rocking everywhere.

As a Republican, I can say my favorite part of the DNC was Bill Clinton, I have a great respect for the man and he is probably the last politician who could actually sit down and work out an agreement with the opposition.
Also, as a Republican, I have to admit I loved watching the Democrats shoot themselves in the foot with the whole "Israel, Jerusalem, God, platform incident." Everyone's opinion on these subjects aside, it was quite obvious that the vote was split on adding those to the platform rather than the 2/3s needed to add them. But, if you look at the teleprompters, it was it was already scripted that the resolution was going to pass.

Got my Vic 20 out, gotta clean off the keyboard after someone spilled crud on it during renovations. Make sure it still works.
Garden Wars, Omega Race, Sargon II Chess, Adventureland, Pirates Cove & Voodoo Castle are awesome games. Ah, fun, fun. Wonder how much stuff's worth now? I've had it my whole life.
Oh, getting back into Monster Jam. Haven't seen it since I was 16/17, not sure when I stopped watching.Grrrrrave Diggahhh!!

You're a Republican? No kidding. I wouldn't have guessed that. You ever want to have a conversation about politics, feel free to drop me a PM. Of course, I say conversation, not debate or argument or shouting match lol. You seem pretty level-headed. I'd be curious to hear some opinions from the other side that aren't just rhetoric. If not, no problem.
Strangely enough though, I see more FB posts from people talking about how much they hate politics on FB than actual political rants or whatever. The ratio is about 10:1. Oh well, they all get annoying after a while, on both sides, for sure.
As for Drew Peterson, couldn't agree more. No offense to his victims, but Chicago is the murder capital of the world. The 10 o'clock news is riddled with stories about this person getting shot in the Back of the Yards or that person getting killed in this neighborhood or that. Do we really need to sensationalize this one guy just because he seems particularly scummy?
Well, I don't know everything, I'm still trying to learn more and more stuff since this is my first election I'm participating in, I'm not going to say much. However, when I become more knowledgeable in politics, I'll probably say something... I already had a debate with someone who continued to shun Romney down against me all because of the "woman's body" issue, and yeah, I disagree with most of what they want to do with abortions and birth control, however, I'm not going to sit here and claim that they're all assholes and douchebags. I'm not a total hardcore Republican, but I still side with them. I don't have to agree with everything, yet I don't disagree with most of their stuff either.
That's where I'm at for right now.

the best!
