Well you haver to be able to prove your not making a clone account and im pretty sure they infact did prove it to the mods here. The other thing is they could have to different IP addresses.

You cannot have the same IP address as somebody else. The reason for why is because then the mods think that it is just a clone account. Well Kingjolly is a funny guy and i wouldnt put it pass him to be fooling us,Then again i could be wrong.

I think it's pretty insane that the mods can see what IP address you have. And who cares if you change your name or have a clone account? It's just a forum and people don't care.

It's an issue when one username gets banned and the other one doesn't because it's the "brother", when it could well be the same person (and usually is) using that as an excuse to mess around doing ban worthy things on the site and still get away with it.

How about if they were to ban someone who posted html causing an endless stream of pop ups with porn, only to have him or her make more clone accounts to continue doing the exact same thing over and over again spamming the boards and ruining everyones experience on the site? It's happened before.

Want those people to keep coming back over and over again? posting 60 or 70 messages in any given thread abd being abusive to users? Don't think you would. And if you say you would, try having a forum of your own with people doing that. Your forum won't last very long because people will get fed up and leave.
And being a moderator to have to get rid of all those messages and accounts day after day on a site this large is trying. Do it yourself and you would begin to understand.

I'm actually the one you can blame for putting the hammer down on cloned accounts as when I was Forum Director on the site it got completely out of hand. Something had to be done, so clone hunting was part of the job.

And as to the ip addresses being visible to moderators, every website you go to on the web can see your ip address and have it logged so really it's not something that you should worry about.
Moderators and Staff on site are chosen carefully and with consideration to trust and other qualities and if they were found abusing the system i'm certain they would be punished for it.

It all comes down to what ~Crow~ decides. Obviously he sees a need for clone accounts to be terminated otherwise they would be rampant on the site.

No, it makes perfect sense for The Mods to see people's I.P. Addresses, because they would otherwise have no way of detecting if people were making clone accounts. And that's stupid for you to say "who cares if you change your name or have a clone account?", because people DO care. I would care, because any asshole could flame, spam, flood/etc., and they would never be permanently banned because they would just make clones. And yeah, it is an Internet Forum, but people do care.

The reason is because no matter what, nobody can be permanently banned either way. There was this one guy Spamming and Flaming Me and Check in this one thread. Everytime he would make a new id,He would get banned. He still comes back and still does the same thing. Dont get me wrong i know there isnt much that the mods can do about it,But it is just very annoying.

So my point is,Whether the mods can see the IP addresses or not,It still doesnt change the fact that any asshole like you said can still Flame,Spam,Flood,Etc and still get away with it.
