You've chosen a different situation, however the logic is still the same. You've been able to grasp what Matt meant by, "everyone ends up alone and broken", but you're unable to tie that to living for simple pleasures.
Tell me, why would you want to live if you know that you're going to end up alone and broken? If everything you're going through in life leads to pain, why are you going through it all? Well, because you're looking forward to the happy moments along the way. It's those happy moments that make you plow through the painful ones.
Now, in some situations, it's a good decision to try to get through the painful moments, as it leads to more happy moments, and makes the road to death a little less rocky. However, in this particular situation, it's clear that the argument will lead nowhere, therefore, Alana should see no reason to try to get through it.
Now, why is this particular situation a lost cause? Well, because it is an argument of clashing opinions, and Matt believes that if one has a firm beleif in their own opinion, there's no chance of changing their mind.

As of right now i have a Randy Rhoads custom king V' from jackson, a Tabern (or something like that) Blood red bass, and a standard Strat. Non of those are on my list, so i got a hell of a way to go.

My brother has a gibson voodoo, a Strat, an Ibanez Iceman that was made in the late 70's and a Paul Reed Smith (spelling) but I am not sure what model. The P.R.S. sounds reeeeeal nice though, and the iceman is just fun to play. I have a wicked ass Warwick Bass myself. Most people I know seems to go with Les Paul's though.

Yeah, i got like 20 of those on my list. This list is basicaly for if i ever come into money somehow. The grand total as of now is $124,990 dollars. But i haven't added any of the new shit that i want from MUSIC123. Seeing as how i had musicians friend before. I added Basses AND guitars. And i haven't added on my accoustics yet eather. It's gonna be a lot.
