Are you excited? Of course you are. Biggest news that hit the web is Microsoft AND Sony are revealing the next Xbox and PlayStation. I'm excited for E3 itself, not the whole reveal of new consoles. They say its gonna be the biggest E3 of all E3 history. The consoles themselves might not come out til 2013, but revealing them is kinda good? I don't know, all I know is that I love E3 and can't wait for it.

I like E3 but I feel like the PS4 is too soon. What happened to 10 years? Not to mention some great games are coming out and if the PS4 comes out this year or 2013 that doesn't leave me much time to play those games. Don't get me wrong I think a PS4 is awesome but how about like 3 years from now? It seems to soon for a new console.

PS3 still has another 4 or 5 years left on it.

How is it too soon for new consoles? It's been 6 years. We've already seen the hardware pushed to its fullest potential. At this point it's basically preventing any real advancement.

Well one of the reasons that Playstation was hacked was because the system is alot more powerful than owners are led to believe.

We should be getting new console info this coming e3. Maybe not the whole shabangabang, but a small teaser of what the next generation holds seems likely.

I think it's too soon too. Still, I won't be getting a next gen console in a loooong time after its initial release, unless they release an MK game.

Thats fine, that we have reached full potential. Lets enjoy it for a few more years instead of everyone always wanting new new new. I enjoy where the systems are at now and could appreciate them for a little longer before they take the dust of the next gen.

i cant wait to see what they have in store for the E3.There are already rumors about Xbox/Loop/Infinity etc on the specs and PSM is claiming that PS4 is more powerful than the 360 successor...the load of shit starts now.

I'd understand a new Xbox, but not a new PS, I thought the idea behind the PS3 was that it would have a larger lifespan hense the extra power?

Maybe info and teasers but in reality a new console should not come out for a few years. Like someone said earlier, games for 360 and PS3 are barely reaching full potential of its power so instead of reaching that peak and then have a new system come out, lets enjoy that peak for a while then we can really enjoy the predecessor.

With few exceptions, system power hasn't been the defining factor in a console's success.

Yeah, but there are people (like me) who doesn't like playing shovelware in a really successful (casual) console (Wii).
I'm really worried about new consoles. IMO this is gonna fuckin' suck. Why? Because we are gonna possibly have to create new accounts, the new games have to come out for the new console, etc.
Does anyone think that in the new system for Xbox we will probably be able to transfer our account shit from the 360 over to it?

Very few console games can even actually run at 1080p. Graphics definitely aren't everything, but when the machines can't even run the games properly, you can't say it's not limited.

That...literally had nothing to do with my reply.
Look at the PS2's dominance over Xbox/Gamecube
Looks at the DS's dominanace over PSP
Look at the NES's dominance over Sega Master System
Look at the 360's dominance over PS3
I was in no way referring to a single console, nor referring to personal preference or shovelware. I was simply stating overall sales and how they aren't necessarily determined by system power. I hope that clarified my comment.

I don't see why not. I got LIVE when it originally came out on Xbox, and it transferred right over to the 360. I assume that, due to the heavy integration of the Xbox LIVE service, they'll maintain it's ability to be cross-platform between Xbox generations.
I literally just logged into LIVE when I first got my 360 using my existing Gamertag/password, and I've been using it ever since.

I know, I was just stating my opinion over the recently most successful console which is the Wii, not the 360.

Ps3 sales aren't that far behind the 360s
A few mill
I wouldn't exactly call it dominance
Maybe it was true a couple years back but its quite close now

Bottom Line. PS3's numbers are scaring microsoft, increasingly looking like the eventual winner. IGN did an article and had all the numbers. Pretty much right there on the table. Given I think they kinda favour the PS3.
PS3 was said to have a 10 year life, that does not mean they can't launch PS4. Look how long the PS2 stayed on top of all sales after PS3 and 360 were both out? I remember it rolling through the competition forever.
Sony knows they need to hit the next step first. They recognized that they were tooth and nail and have battle back very nicely. Now they want to go for the throat. This is actually the right move. If PS3 had cross-game chat, id be calling this game checkmate already. And I know that it factors into a huge number of sales.
Conflicting reports about E3. Some sources claim PS4/720 are 100% concrete confirmed. others say "no way in hell"
Time will tell.
