Many people today think that the human race have surpassed all expectations and challenges. We tend to think of oursleves as the dominant or supirior species of this planet. This, however, is true...considering that we have tackled and embarked upon many obstacles. But ultimately, in the end, we will have ourselves to blame for our own Extinction. If mother nature's wrath does not put an end to us, then we shall fall victim to our own doings.

There are several things to take into consideration for our demise:
-Over population (lack of space)
-Enviornmental Issues (Global Warming)
-Lack of Sustainable resources (Not enough food to sustain the population)
-War(Is Likely to occur)
-Famine and poverty(Africa,South America,and Asia)
-Disease(Aids)

If the above do not eventually eliminate us then there are other catastrophes which nature itself will throw at us:
-The Next Ice Age(in about 2000 years to come)
-Explosion of the Sun(in another 5 billion years; although this seems too farfetched)
-Continental Shifts(causing Earthquakes, Volcano eruptions and tsunamis)

Iam sure many of you have never thought about this issue. But it will happen in some time during the future. Human Beings, just like anything else before it or after it, will become extinct. One thing that I have learned is that Not every Species lives forever.
SO what are your thoughts on this?

PS-Iam not trying to freak all of you out! lol

Yeah, and if you're a Creationist you have to await Revelation.

Or we could always evolve into something that doesn't require us to produce so much waste......Like the X-Menwink

That's why i volunteer to inpregnate jennifer Lopez as many times as it takes to keep our human race going strong. And if I have to, I will do the same with Jessica Alba, Vida Guerra, Lindsey Lohan, and my guidance counselor Ana.

Not sure about that...Wolverine leaves his fair share of beer cans and cigar butts lying around.

Evolution needs atleast 1 million years to occur. Considering our high degree of intelligence and adaptation skills...iam not sure it will be necessary for humans to evolve.
Although I would like to be Gambitgrin

That's a pretty out of the air number. Evolution doesn't go in spurts, it's a constant thing. Stuff is always evolving. I mean, look at the average height and weight of peoples now compared to 50 years ago.

Dramatic evolution takes hundreds of years. Not millions.

One solution to some of those problems is for people to stop having babies and adopt. Another is male castration...

Correction, for a whole species to completely evolve into a another takes a pretty long time-somewhere between 1 million years or more. For physical features within the population to occur (like weight and height) it takes hundreds years or so.
Iam aware that evolution is constantly taking place...but my friend its going at a very slow rate.

If we were to do that our society would be similar to that of Japan's with an aging society, which isn't a good thing either.

Hmm...i dont think many males would be happy with that. But a good solution is birth control for which women can take.

or perhaps what we need to have is a tournament. One where to people fight to the death and they advance. They would fight until they reached the supreme ruller of Outworld. It would be....Mortal Kombat. Now I know you all think I'm crazy but Mortal Kombat isn't about death, but life. The strongest survive and make babies.

Actually I've already made the decision not to have kids of my own, just so I don't contribute to the world's overpopulation. If everyone on Earth lived like the average American, we would need about 5.3 Earths to meet our consumption needs. So I'm not adding any more consumers. I might get a vasectomy, and if I want to raise a kid, I'll adopt.

We should just get it over with, and end the failed experiment that is mankind.

....That gets me thinking, how many Earths would it take if everyone lived like those in the Sudan or India (excluding northern India)....My guess is probably 20. That's where the real over population numbers come from. The states are a very moderate number.

On somewhat of a side note, that last paragraph may be the only knowledge that really stuck that I've learned at college outside of my major so far. Although I hated the class I feel I got a better understanding of the world because I took it.

Ha, this reminds me of a commercial. A poorly drawn married couple was together. The voice over: Women, it will happen. It showed the man punch the wife, Voice over: Your husband will hit you. become a lesbian.

I will have children for my lineages sake. I mean people that say they won't have children don't realize that their line ends with them(Unless they have Brothers or sisters). That in of itself is a tragedy.

Perhaps I didn't make that clear enough...

I meant, if every one of Earth's 6 billion+ people CONSUMED the same amount as the average American, we would need 5.3 Earths. I didn't mean if population density everywhere was the same as it is in the US.

In fact, if every one of Earth's 6 billion+ people lived like the people of Sudan or India, we could be sustained by much less than a single Earth.

Same here. I don't believe I need to leave a legacy in the form of descendants. I don't have a problem with my blood line ending, and I know my parents respect the decisions I make about my own life. Besides, I do have a sister, so she can carry on the lineage if she wants to.
