I don't have 1, but a few of my favourites are - Aliens, Fight Club, Urotsukadoji (sp?), The Last Samurai, The Crow, Leage of Extraordinary Gentlemen & American History X.

Some of them I like for the eye candy, most of them I like for the story/message though.

Edit - Oh, and for sheer gore, Beyond The Limits. Anybody who likes pointless gore to the extreme, watch this movie, one of the most brutal things I've seen. And funny too, watching a guy go on a coke (not meaning cola) fueled rampage mutilating people tied up around a table is great (meat cleavers, steel mallets, all sorts of stuff), especially with the music the dude puts on (really happy and stuff). There's even a plot to it which isn't completely horrible, funnily enough.

To anyone who cares, I'm not banned. I left of my own accord. This place is dead to me now.

Dude! I thought I was the only one who liked "Cube" (are we talking the same movie though? A bunch of people in a booby-trapped, cube-shaped prison?) I got the uncensored version on DVD. But that's not my favorite - that would have to be "Apocalypse Now: Redux".

I loved Cube too. The booby traps were really good, and it's just a weird twisted movie. Not bad for a Canadian IFC film...

Back to the topic, The Shawshank Redemption definately is NO.1. Aliens is up there on my list, as is
Memento, 12 Angry Men (from 1957! But I had to watch it in class, and it's a really good movie), The Untouchables, Blade, Platoon and Oceans Eleven (2001 remake).
I'm sure there are many more, but that'll do for now.

The Shawshank Redemption is the best movie ever. That's one on my list, then probably comes The Breakfast Club.
