Finally bought my first Playstation 2!

posted09/13/2004 09:53 PM (UTC)byHoorray! Today I bought my first console since the Mega Drive / Genesis. I was amazed to find how little they've changed in the years and actually the PS2 is uglier in my opinion but that's life...
While I was at it I bought MK:DA and Tekken 4 in Platinum versions. The idea was to also buy VF4 and Soul Calibur 2 but I have no idea why they weren't on sale anywhere I searched for (actually MK:DA was only on sale in one store...) so I'll have to buy that later.
I've only played MK:DA a little but it seems a bit slow for what I was hoping for, it still doesn't seem as bad as some people put it since it's way better than MK4. Of course, silly me, I didn't buy a memory card (I guess I'm too used to PCs...) so I won't be playing a lot until tomorrow. Tekken 4 is great as tekken always was but I'm getting a bit of a problem with the controller since I was more used to having six buttons in two rows instead of 4 buttons but I'll probably get used to it...
Anyway, this is just giving news of my happiness for being able to finally play a MK title when it is released (which will be Deception)...
Of course, if anyone knows of good fighting games (except the ones mentioned and SmackDown!: HCTP which I'm not buying because SmackDown! VS RAW will be released soon...) feel free to let me know ;)

Youre 4 years Late, but Dammit You Got It! Congrats!
I was the idiot who bought a PS2 the day it came out.
So did I and I've been through 2 PS2 so far. My first 1 just quit playing everything but congrats man. The PS2 is an awesome console. If you like action, RPG then I would recommend Final Fantasy X and X-2.
About Me
FB: Trans4Materia Card Game I invented "Circling Vulture, Laughing Hyena"
True story, it happened to a friend of a friend of mine... EVERYBODY!

Don't EVER use a PS2 upright, that's the cause of 99.9% of its "problems".

Yeah I think I got it really cheap four years after its release but it would still have been cheaper if I lived in the US... that's life I guess...
And mine isn't upright, it's ugly as hell in that position IMO... in fact it's an ugly piece of hardware the XBOX is much nicer on the outside but not having Tekken made my decision.

the ps2 is a great system for its quality of games rather than it itself. except for the fact that it is a dvd player without having to buy the playback kit like the x-box.

I got you both beat. I bought the 3DO about a month after it came out. If you guess how much it cost me and/or the lifespan of the system, I'll give you a prize.
P.S. Since you screwed up the thread's layout, even if you do guess, no prize for you. NEXT!

That's pretty much the best advantage of buying late. I bought Tekken 4 and MK: DA in Platinum series (which I assume are the economic series of the Playstation... maybe I'm wrong hehe) and I'm hoping to find Soul Calibur 2 and VF4 in the same format but once I'll find them I'll buy them just the same.

Platinum series means the the games sold over 1 million copies... it's not an economic set or anything like that.
