Don't listen to much hip hop, i do listen to the Beastie Boys though. Good shit. Also J5, I don't care what people call 'em, they blow that "mumbling gangster shit under your breath" garbage out of the water. Run DMC and A Tribe Called Quest are also good, as well as a few other i listen to from time to time.
I find it interesting how "pop" has progressed through the genres over the years, rock to more experimental type sounds to hip hop to r&b to rap...It's like it gets worse every 5-10 years!

You say that, but then again the thread is about G-Unit......Ohh the irony.
Honestly though, whenever you ask for people to "keep it clean" and "don't post if you have nothing good to say" is just asking for trouble.
As for the actual subject of the thread, I gave up on rap five years ago. It got too repetative, and anytime someone was called "underground" next thing you knew they were thrown into the mainstream. Now just because I've stopped listening to it doesn't mean that I automatically lose all say in the subject. To me G-Unit is rap/pop. Not because they sound like Pop music, but because they are marketed like Pop music, and are so mainstream it's sick.
Another subject I'd like to touch on is a band/group/musician "selling out". Just because someone is popular and sells millions of records doesn't mean they sold out. Infact that's part of the point in making music. But when said band/group/musician goes changes there sound, attitude, and turns there back on everything and everyone that brought them to the table then that constitutes selling out. Example: Metallica sold out. Ja-Rule sold out. And G-Unit is on their way too.
Eminem = best lyricist right now, and has been for many years.
G-Unit = Okay, but nothing special.
Lloyd Banks = Pretty decent C.D.
None have sold out, and I really don't care if it has "pop" sounds, or is marketed that way. Just makes it easier to get the C.D. instead of having to order them because it's so "underground".
I just listen to whatever I want to and don't pay attention to what is "true" hip hop and all that pointless shit. If it is a good song, I will listen to it -- not throw a pussy fight over it.

G-Unit (more like 50 cent) was much better before they were signed my Shady/Aftermath. '50 cent is the future', 'Guess Who's Back', 'Power of the Dollar', 'No Mercy No fear' are the good 50 cent/g-unit cd's. Guess who's back is pretty good, Beg for mercy was a let down imo. and I havent heard Bank's full cd.
BUT my friend said it best, G-unit is gangsta for no reason. Who are they being gansta too? The public? Ja rule? Seems too much like a gimmick imo.
If you want true, quality hip hop here it is:
Nas ~ 'Illmatic'
Tupac ~ Any of his cd's
Biggie ~ 'Ready to Die'
Wu Tang ~ '36 chambers', 'Forever'
Snoop Dogg's ~ Any cd when he was Snoop Doggy Dog
Infinte ~ mostly unknown toronto rapper
Talib Kweli ~ 'Reflection Eternal'
Canibus ~ 'Rip the Jacker'
Lost Boys ~ 'Legal Drug Money'
And I also like Tech N9ne, but I wouldn't rank him as one of the best ever, and there are sooo many more that I've forgotten

oh man I wasn't even gonna respond to this but since you took your time to discect my post I guess I'll humor you... 1st off If I'm at the club or driving or at a boys house and a new joint comes on and I like what I hear I will say man thats a hot song... granted I don't like most rappers, and you automatically assumed I liked nelly I suppose you're some sort of pundit on rap, well heres the thing even I a simple minded individual from another native nation can rap about my standard of living or how hard it is to get a dollar today how poverty and and the dope game ruins entire cities but you gotta have a nice even flow and a hot beat shit, Einstein coulda rapped about his theory of realtivity an important discovery but assuming that he cannot flow no-one would have listened to him...
On The Ja Rule thing was mocking you maybe it was too subtle, I guess I'm at another level...
I'm done talkin about this because I'm not even that fond of G-unit I heard of them even before they came out they had a song called "got me A bottle" which was mildly hot back in 2000 and I followed them from that my favorite rapper is DMX because he seems raw hard real and unforgiving and I did first hear him on the radio so if you wanna go on a instigate fine waste your time, you're not one to change my views...

Well actually i do not like to start shit, but this is and will be a forum where members can express there opinions, and thats all. The fact that i do not like rap music is my opinion. I have heard lots of it and i do not like it, simple, i'm not here to start a flame war or start shit or whatever you like to call it, i'm just here to express my opinion about rap music.
i respect your opinion about rap, simple i'm not trying to convince you otherwise
