Yeah, I thought it was a bit funny when they were asking if it would interfere with the movie. I chuckled when hearing that because they're not going to have any connections with the comic and movie together.

In fact, they have a whole array of gay heroes and villians, most notably, Northstar (hero), and Mystique (villian), as well as her long time lover Destiny.

Heard about this on TMZ, why that is because they were making note about if it could effect the movie... Okay?
It'll be nice to see this come out. I mean, comics does the unthinkable at time, just wondering why this took such a long time to actually do. And to be honest, I seriously would have thought that Marvel would be the first to make a gay super hero. Guess Stan Lee couldn't think of one.

Really? I did not know that. I'm not too huge into the comics, despite I try to be. I never realized that Mystique had a female companion... Oh the things that I've been missing...

Right they were together for decades.
In fact it is commonly believed that Nightcrawler, Mystique's son, is actually the product of both Mystique and Destiny, with Mystique taking the form of a man to impregnate her lover. This however is only theory, but I'd like to believe it is true.

I personally think its kinda stupid they decided to make Alan Scott gay. I think it takes away from Obsidian, one of the first DC characters who was gay and he just so happens to be Alan Scott's son.
Besides... sounds to me like a bit of a pussy marketing move. They did it so all the news sources would say "OMG Green Lantern is now gaaayy" and show pics of that abortion of a movie. When in fact its not. They wanted a bold move? Make Hal Jordan gay!
Then again that wouldnt make much sense either... he's a notorious womanizer, and frankly thats the most fun part of his character (had a 3some w Huntress and Canary)
A good compromise? Kyle Rayner! He's a legit, current GL and frankly... hes kinda gay. I mean... who shows off their buns like that in the middle of a fight?
Another thing that bugs me... "Omg a gay superhero" is what they are saying to these half-assed news. Like everyone said.. there have been gay heroes (and villains) FOREVERRRR. Seriously... Apollo and Midnighter? Mystique? She was rocking the domestic partner before most ppl even knew what that meant.
Other well established big names: Ultimate Colossus, Karma, Starman (3rd), Messieue Mallah (U may know him from the Teen Titans show), Rainmaker, 3 Watchmen and about 5 of the members of the Legion of Superheroes.

Destiny as in, Irene Alder? I'm trying to look up who these guys are rather than just asking, even though it probably would be a lot easier to ask a bunch of fans of comics the question... I want to look up these things as well.
And it's really intriguing with this because I'm the kind of person who's just heard Nightcrawler in Mystique's long lost son. Never, EVER heard this Destiny character being apart of the Nightcrawler's creation situation.

I thought Azazel was Nightcrawler's father...? Also, I've never been exposed to Destiny outside of "Evolution" so that's interesting to learn that she is Mystique's confidant

He is.
The whole Mystique impregnated Destiny was a theory for the descendants of Destiny, who included her grandson, whose name i cant remember.

Right, he is Nightcrawler's father... damnit!
It would've been so much cooler if he was the spawn of two women.

The most famous part of Rayner's origin is that his girlfriend got Uncle Ben'd by being folded up and stuffed in a refrigerator. Also, he's currently dating Sinestro's daughter. Or they might be broken up for some angsty reason but I'm sure they'll get back together soon. Be kinda poor writing to just up and abandon all that, particularly since the dynamic between Kyle and Sinestro has been so little explored since the relationship started, there's way too much potential to mine there...
All his girlfriends dying was kind of a running joke there for most of Kyle's existence...but funnily enough, now the other two of them that died have been erased from even existing by the reboot. I'd feel bad for Donna Troy fans if any actually existed...but I am pissed about the loss of Jade, especially since her dad now isn't a WWII-era legend, lives in an alternate universe, and now doesn't even like impregnating women...
That's what bothers me about Alan. Not that he's gay, but that he isn't DC's Captain America anymore. I miss the JSA being war heroes from olden times and co-existing with the League as elderly veterans. The new Earth-2 feels redundant as hell by being set in the present day instead of WWII. What's the point of having two universes if they're so similar?

Wonder Woman's made subtle on-panel references to lesbianism being prevalent on Paradise Island and participating in it before.
She's also had primarily male love interests, though. So she's bi.

I don't think she's bi.
I think the only reason people make those claims is because her home is based on the island of Lesbos, a Greek island once known for its extremely high population of women.
I don't she's ever had an actual sexual experience with a woman.

I'm telling you what's been said in a comic book, but okay. Believe as you like.
Factual incidents notwithstanding, if you want to talk purely theory and opinion, my own stance is that the fact that she was raised to adulthood in a culture where same-sex relationships are not only not taboo, but in fact the only option...doesn't actually have that much to do with it (though all of that's certainly there for anyone who does want to use it as an argument...).
My belief is that, when written properly, Wonder Woman is all about love without condition or prejudice for all living things, which would extend all the way to how she approaches relationships. In other words, there's no logical reason she wouldn't be pansexual, because relationships aren't about sex or biology or appearances for her, they're about her partner's character and she wouldn't really see a difference between the genders or reason to limit herself to one over the other.

to be fair they are the AMBIGUOUSLY gay duo hahah
I have no problem with gay superheroes, but the timing of this just seems to be coinciding with Marvel's having Northstar's long-expected marriage too conveniently. Feels like a headline-grabbing move (which is working quite well); I don't think it'd be happening otherwise.

True. But that goes both ways. Marvel and DC have been doing similar "media grabbing" stuns with their stories for a while, and they always happen very closely time-wise
Blackest Night - Necrosha
Jason Todd came back as red hood - Bucky as Winter Soldier
Bruce died, Jason temp. Batman - Steve rogers died, Bucky new Cap
there are ton more, i just cant think about them.
Totally agree this is an attention-grabbing move. Just like Northstar's marriage is. The latter is just a little ballsier.
