It's probably going to be a little stud. I've never gotten my ears pierced, but for everything else that I did get pierced, I was able to discuss which kind of jewelry would be best for the initial healing process, and I've even brought in my own jewelry before too. None of my piercings ever hurt. Good luck.

Well, when I got my ears pierced first, I was too young to remember, sadly, for some reason, I couldn't withstand them for too long because something happened, figured that it was infected by the gun. I had to have the holes closed.

Then, after my freshmen year of high school, I got them re-pierced, however, I couldn't get them pierced in the same spot, had them pierced in a different spot on my earlobe. I was allowed to choose what earring I wanted, however, they were studs that had to be in for a little bit before getting them taken out. Again, with the gun, this time, my ears didn't get infected.

I also have my belly button pierced. You couldn't take it out for a while, and couldn't swim for six weeks... I doubt you're getting your belly button pierced though.

Ya never know man. He says he's getting his ears pierced; but he could go totally weird and go get his taint pierced.

It depends on how you're getting it done. They can either use a piercing gun or a needle.

With the piercing gun, it hurts more, and is more dangerous because it can get infected. They can't sterilize the gun. And when they're done, you won't be able to choose what earring you want for a while.

Where as if they use a needle, it's less painful, it's not dangerous, and you can choose what earring you want right away.

So obviously, go with a needle and you should be fine.

I've had 12 out of 13 ear piercings done with the gun, and they're all fine. (The only one that necessitated a needle was the tragus).

If you're talking lobe, it won't hurt. the bang of the gun next to the organs specifically designed to receive sound is probably the worst part. Cartilage, however can be very painful, and it's now illegal to pierce cartilage with the gun. (At least in the UK - don't know about rest of world.)

In addition to the 13 earrings, i have had my nose pierced 3 times (both nostrils & septum), both lips (lower one twice), tongue, eyebrow, both nipples, navel and PA (and i plan on doing that one again next to the existing ring).

Doing the math - that's 25 since the age of 16. An average of almost 2.5 per year. I will post pics if anyone thinks it would be helpful.

Also I just remembered that I have my septum pierced. I often forget that it's there. There goes my nothing above the neck rule.

No man... thats just wrong! lol. I'm probably just going to ask for the needle so that I get to choose my own pair of earrings, instead of their stock ones.
