Greatest moment in music history

When my parents fornicated with Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" in the background.
That, or the opening riff of "Voodo Chile".

You have got to be fucking kidding me. Nirvana is the single most over-rated over-played band in history. They weren't revolutionary, they just got noticed out of all the bands doing that same kind of thing. Mudhoney was much better.
And after Nirvana and the grunge trend died music actually got BETTER. It wasn't until about 1997 that the Nu Metal craze really started to hit giving us all the fucking retarded bands like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park we have today.
yup.

Thank you! I'm so glad someone else thinks so. Nirvana was not revolutionary at all. They simply brought to light a subculture that was going to be popularized anyway. If Nirvana hadn't come around, another grunge band would have to glorify the 'ideals' of grunge music. Either way, it's all garbage.
Well, as much as I'd like to pinpoint a year when music 'died', I really can't; I listen to a lot of music, but mostly bands like Pink Floyd, U2, Depeche Mode, and New Order. Though, I believe most music coming out nowadays is dogshit, like emo, metal, etc. But blah. To each his own.

That's your problem. You're staying in the mainstream.

Are you guys contemplating when music died? If you guys had been paying any attention to the Gothenburg sound, post-thrash era, and melodic hardcore, you would know music is far from dead. It's just not on MTV or radio, and as far as I'm concerned, it hardly ever was.
I don't hate mainstream bands, but it does piss me off when someone proclaims a pop band to be the best when they have heard absolutely nothing from the underground.

That's basically what it comes down to. And for the record, I hate Linkin Park with a passion. I heard one song, In the End, that I mildly liked. The rest either sounds the same, or is like Hyuga said, something that other bands do a hell of a lot better.
But this is IMO.
There's an amazingly vast well of relatively unknown talent out there, it's just a matter of finding it.

Probably when the van halen feud began. Man, that was in the 80s. Its like such a long time ago man. It seems too good to be true. The 80s and even the 90s are like a sweet dream now. Wow.
