Who here plays guitar? If so what equipment do you have? How good are you? I have a Squier Strat and an Ibanez RG170, I also have a Rogue 100 watt amp, and a DigiTech RP50 effects Pedal. I've been playing for about 6 months, and soon will be starting a band.

Well, although I have a Drumset, I also have an electric guitar somewhere. Forgot all about it and decided to stick with drums. Drums= pretty damn good. guitar= pretty damn bad.
Ive been playing for over 6 years now...
I use a Peavey Wolfgang standard emerald green, a Peavey Envoy 110, a Digitech GNX3 guitar workstation, 3 acoustic guitars-Odessa,Yamaha,Washburn... and im currently in the process of getting a Mesa/Boogie Mark IV solo head and a Peavey 5150 Slant cab...
Ive been told that im really good but personally i dont know, i dont like to brag on myself or anything so i just let others make their own opinons...
btw, killer St. Anger aviator and Sad but true quote Redline... Metallica Rules...

Sweet! Finally some people I can talk about this kinda stuff with! Yeah, I love Metallica and can't believe that just like, 2 years ago I used to listen to Nelly and DMX and crap like that! Yeah, I don't really like to judge how good I am because it's sort of a point of view thing, most people who tell me I'm good judge that off the fact that I can play Iron Man but anyone who plays decently should be able to play that. But I do have two very good friends (who are VERY good guitarsts) who say I'm getting better and better every time I see them, so I like to just say I'm getting better than saying I'm good. Because it is true, I am pretty much always progressing, I like to learn at least 1 song a day (tabs) and at least one solo every week or so. My practice song for today is Aerosmith- Walk This Way, I'm tired so I needed something simple before I go to bed

No; anyone who has two fingers, a guitar, and a functioning nervous system should be able to play that.
I've been playing guitar for about 4 years. I play an ESP LTD F200 through a Crate GFX65 amp, and I use a Boss MT2 Metal Zone distortion pedal. I also have an Ibanez RG120, and a bottom-of-the-line Yamaha acoustic (which I actually play more than the ESP now). I guess I'm decent at it; a lot of my friends in high school last year considered me the local guitar god, but I felt I was over-rated by them. I think it was my skill with improvised solos that earned me my reputation. I used to know a couple Metallica solos, but not like the really fast ones. I used to be able to play something that sounded kinda like the Master of Puppets solo, but mostly stuff like the intro solos to Fade to Black, Sanitarium, slower ones like that. But I don't listen to Metallica very much anymore, and therefore don't play it that much anymore.

I'm not a guitar player per say, although I can play open chords, power chords, barre chords, Major and Minor scales, and select leads on my cheap-ass $75 squier. But other than that, I'm all bass.
I play a black five-string Ibanez SR305, with a Fender bassman 100watt Combo Amp, and coming soon I'm adding a digitech over-drive pedal to my rig.

ive been playing for almost a year and a half, i have a samick guitar and a cheap radioshack amp that i bought off of my best friends girlfriends brother who never learned how to play. Since i started playing though my musical tastes are changing and im not into metal the way i used to be. Pretty soon im getting an acoustic because acoustic guitars can kick ass too.

I have an Ibanez GRX20, an Epiphone Flying V, an Ibanez 10-watt amp, an Ibanez SM7 Smash Box distortion pedal, an Ibanez CF7 Chorus/Flanger pedal, an Ibanez TS7 Tubescreamer overdrive pedal, a DigiTech X-Series Metal Master distortion pedal, a Dunlop Dime Crybaby Custom, Jim Dunlop GatorGrip picks (1.14, 1.50, and 2.0 gagues), and I always use GHS Boomers strings (usually, I use the Zakk Wylde gaguings). What I would sell my soul to Satan himself for is either a Marshall JCM 800 2203, a Marshall JCM 2000 TSL, or a Marshall Mode Four, that way I can fire both of my distortion pedals, and still put my Tubescreamer to good use.
Well I'm not selling my soul but I'm selling my Squier 10 watt and my DigiTech RP50 80-tone foot pedal and Ibanez GSA60 to buy a Marshall MG100HDFX amp with a switchboard. Then once my Ibanez RG170r arives I'm gonna be set... ahh the sweet, um, I'll finish that wet dream in a moment, I gottat go piss!

I've had a guitar for a while. I looked at the book that teaches a few chords and notes, and learned it. Right now I'm getting the feel of it, finding some nice chords and such. I have come up with some pretty nice sounds for songs too. I need to learn how to play "all the way", and then I'm starting a band with a friend of mine.
Sweet, I already have a band but all we've done is practiced so far. As for you Sub, good choice with the GRX40, thats a great beginner guitar. Haha, only 1 week til I have my RG! Then I'm gonna sell my other two guitars (might keep them if I can do without selling) along with my amp and foot pedal and buy a sweet Marshall stack amp!

For watts, I'd say just a 10 or a 15 watt, that's all you really need if your just going to be screwing around and learning. I'm getting a hundred watt because I suspect over the summer I'll be showing off in the many garages all over Texas!

I have a crappy electric... Stagg S300RD... it's an off brand... my dad bought it for me and a 10watt Kustom amp... I like to paly my acoutic more though... 'cause I'm lazy and like to sit down. It's my grandpa's old guitar, a Franciscan. It's supposedly worth $600+ in mint... But yeah, I love Metallica, I can play most of Master Of Puppets Rythym guitar, none of the lead. I love doing the interlude riff on my acoustic. Recently I've been more into the comedic acoustic stuff like Stephen Lynch. I've been in a few bands. My comedy band did a show... sucked because we weren't ready. I can now do all the songs by my self but uh... yeah. Anyway, if you wanna talk to me more... get on msn... orchibortkkk@hotmail.com and the kkk in my name does not mean Ku Klux Klan... I can explain later if you add me. Like uh, perhaps Redline or Bloodline666. Who ever... AIM name is Hooversexual and I have OrchiBortKKK but I only allow people on my list to talk to my on the AIM s/ns.... personal reasons.

I just got my copy of this month's MusiciansFriend.com catalog in the mail today, and there's a new item there that caught my attention immediately. It is the MXR KFK-1 Kerry King 10-band EQ. I have always liked Slayer's style of guitar, and one of the keys to their heavily distorted sound through their Marshall JCM 800s is their EQs. Both have used this 10-band rack EQ from Boss for about 12 or so years now. The problem is, that EQ is discontinued. With this new EQ out, you can bet that I'll have my hands on it as soon as I get enough money for it. I have no idea whether Jeff Hanneman's going to use this new EQ on his rig or not, though.
