As you can probably guess, this thread was inspired by Bloodline666's "Metal music" thread. If you read that one, you know that there was quite a bit of debate about what bands are considered to be "metal" and what bands are considered "hardcore." So, I figured I'd make a separate thread to discuss hardcore bands.

What hardcore bands do you listen to? What types of hardcore do you like (ie. metalcore, hardcore punk, emocore, straightedge hardcore, etc)? What hardcore bands have you seen live? Any thoughts on what separates hardcore from metal or punk?

Here are some of my favorite hardcore bands:
Hatebreed
Sick of it All
Bleeding Through
Throwdown
Eighteen Visions
All Out War
Most Precious Blood
Rise Against
Avenged Sevenfold
Death by Stereo
Poison the Well
Shai Hulud

As the list suggests, I like pretty much all types of hardcore, whether it leans more punk, metal, or (to an extent) emo. As for hxc bands I've seen live, I don't have the opportunity to go to shows very often, but I've seen Madball, All Out War, and Hatebreed (and, of course, dozens of lesser-known local hardcore bands).

I like Bleeding Through, Fantomas, Dillinger Escape Plan, The Locust, a few other grind bands, and a bunch of the local bands (Mike Cleary Project, Enrique Iglesias Cover Band).

If the digital part of hardcore is covered in this thread :

at least bob marley could actually sing and not just scream his lungs out for no reason. Also he could write lyrics about things other than hating the world even though there is no reason to and nothing has happened to the talentless whiney bitches!

Wow...that was pretty ignorant. Take a listen to some Avenged Sevenfold, and tell me that guy can't actually sing. Read the lyrics to some Rise Against songs and tell me they're just about hating the world when there is "no reason to."

You're an ignorant fool. I don't know of any hardcore songs that have lyrics about hating the world for no reason. Plus, it takes a lot more talent to scream throughout an entire song (most hardcore doesn't have screaming throughout the song, anyway) than to harmonize with God knows what marley tried to harmonize with. He's weak, and I hate him for making people like you like reggae.
Now, you don't like it when ignorant assholes bash your favorite type of music, do you? I suggest you make a reggae thread so xCarnagex can make fun of it, just so you know how fucking annoying it is.

ok i see your point, everyone in this post probally hates me now but i just did this because im really not an asshole and i was just bored and feeling immature. I really dont care what type of music anyone likes, i usually joke around with my friend because he hates bob marley and i hate hardcore music and my first reply is what i say to him jokingly. Of course without me saying it in person you really cant tell what tone of voice im saying it in. Once again sorry to everyone in this post. Im not really an asshole and this was a rare lapse of my character.
