I thought it was okay and the ending was totally predictable. The affects were awesome and that guy getting smashed by the bus on the phone while being the news was kinda humorous... I kept making Demon Bunny references to my sister during the entire movie(Jake Glylenhal(can't spell) played Donny Darko in well the movie of the same name)... I don't see why people rip on the Punisher so much though... I mean the comic relief characters in that movie are the biggest gripe I hear, but one of them gets fucked up really bad, and both seem real, but just really bad off people who are naturally goofy... but thats me... anyway Van Helsing was okay, but I saw it at a drive in and some kept making shadow puppets, about to shove some little kid's hand down his throat.. later

I just got back from watching it.

*WARNING* Spoiler Alert! *WARNING* Spoiler Alert!

The twisters in LA was great! And the way they did the flash freezes makes me wish they would use similar special effects in the third MK movie for Sub-Zero.

Then the twist of illegial immigration going south instead of north was especially funny for us in McAllen (Within an hour of the Tex-Mex border). Me and my sister starting arguing as to which bridge was 'closed' to prevent entry into Mexico--I said it was the Reynosa and she said Matamotos (sp?). (The bridge I normally take across is the Progresso, only seen the Reynosa once during the early morning hours and never crossed the Matamotos.)

As for having a Hollywood ending...true but it could have been worse, they could have found some way to actually end the storms before the last deep freeze of NY.

The wolves were horrible...gosh they need to use real wolves.
I like the freezes, I didn't really like the tornadoes.Kind of cheesy in my opinion.
i didn't like the movie all that much. the special effects were great (apart from the wolves) and the action scenes were okay. but for once i'd like to see a more realistic disaster movie. so far they all seem to follow the same guide lines. such as, nobody ever believes the nerdy scientist who predicts it all, the bad characters always die, and the survivers/main characters always ban together to form a little "miny" civilization.

for once i'd like to see one where the main character isn't a "good guy" who tries to save everybody. for example, in "The Day After Tomarrow" the guy runs back to save the one girl from the water, but in real life they'd either both die or the guy would have to choose between life and saving her. i wanna see him choose life. and people would'nt ban together, without a society to control them they'd steal food and only look out for themselves.

i also wanna see one where the people don't know what to do. in a real disaster situation people normally die because they don't know what to do and i hate to say it but helping others only puts them at greater danger and pulls them down. so i wanna see innocent people get left behind, i wanna see greed end in triumph, i wanna see mans cruel nature come out after society fails him. because thats what would happen. there wouldn't be a guy who knew what to do or a happy ending.

does anybody out there agree??
