Never clean any form of CD CD-Rom DVD etc using a circular motion it will damage the disk even more. start from the centre of the disk and wipe in straight lines to the disks edge, Use a lightly damp cloth that is clean, and completly dry the disc before you use it again, this will help with dirt, if it's scratched thats a different story, a trick i found that works is to use scratch remover for cars, rub a very very small amount on the disc using a clean cloth again do not use circular motions do as above, then clean with warm water and dry, it works for most scratches as long as they are not to deep.

If what Terranova said didn't work (tho it probably did cause Terranova got skillz like that) I can tell ya how to do the toothpaste thing.
Before anyone says 'It doesn't w0rk11!!!', it does. You just have to know how to do it.

I take like immaculate care of my PS2 games*and the system itself*, but the system was actually broken when I thought the games were just made out of a cheap material. So I got the PS2 sent to the company and they fixed it
(they still didn't fix the disk tray all the way though
)

It should say somewhere in the manual. If I remember correctly it says " Do not clean using water..." that's all i remember :p.

It depends on how you clean it using water. if you stick the disc in the sink full of water or under the tap, then yes it's a bad idea to do that, but using a lightly damp cloth isn't going to do any harm, if you are refering to the scrathed disc section where i said clean with warm water, its still using a cloth and for it to be lightly damp, i should have been more clear on that,
blade-tsung Thanks for the comment, tho i have to say I've never tried toothpaste, is that just for cleaning or for scratches as well ?.

I used to talk to this girl, and she scratched up my Bob Digital cd, and she tried to rinse it off....
As far as I know, just for the scratches. It serves as a 'filler' if you will. You apply a small amount on the scratch(es). Then you gently rub it (I guess not in circles) into the scratches. Wipe cd clean, you don't want any 'gobs' of toothpaste left, you want it to be completely smooth. Let it sit overnight, try the next day. Works for me!! I only suggest doing this as a last resort tho, but those Skip Doctors suck balls so don't even waste your time.
But yea, basically the toothpaste purpose is to 'fill' in all the little crevices. Hope this helps.

For general dirt, light scratches, and finger print marks on my disks I just rinse them in warm water and pat the cd dry with a soft cloth or towel. I find it to work quite well. I figure the cd is plactic, wax, or what ever it's made of. Water won't hurt it as long as it's not so hot that is warps the disk.

The toothpaste method is really good.
You jsut put it on and wipe form the center out. Really effective.
Another method I use is stick the CD under the tap and use shampoo and clean it like cleaning the bottom and top. It works all the time!!!
AS for scratches, you should buy a spray thing.
