thetinman2005 inspired me on this thread.

i did'nt want to go off topic in torchia's thread, here.

who here is for or against hunting?

i am completely against it, since, ok i can see, maybe you and your family went on vacation and went to the woods in a cabin, everything is going fine, and then you might want to go out and look around the woods or sight seeing, and perhaps you took a Berreta 93R with you for some reason, and so your walking around, minding your own buisness then a grizzle bear comes out of no where, and is about to try and kill you, then yeah i could see a reason why to shoot him, its mainly its either you or him, but, i dont see the satisfaction of, going in the woods, taking a Hunting Rifle and standing perfectly still, zooming in on a poor deer drinking water, and then pow, killing it.

hunting is considered a sport, yet, sport is competetion, where's the deer's Hunting Rifle? eh? or does he have an Uzi strapped to his ass so he can pop a couple caps in your ass eh?

and especially, since, what if the deer has a couple of fawns, you kill the mother, what protection does its children have? they'll eventually die aswell.

now, im not saying that people who hunt are bad people, i just thought i make a thread for people who are either for or against hunting.

post away.

I tend to agree with you. I've never been hunting, but I've gone fishing a couple times, and the one time I caught a fish- and it was a really tiny one- the hook got caught in its mouth, which got all torn up because it was struggling so much. I felt really bad about it, because it really seemed to suffer. So I basically look at hunting the same way, at least if it's for sport, it just seems cruel. Is it just taking amusement from the death of an animal?

And the scenario you described really isn't hunting, because you had no intention of killing anything.

I am for hunting. Also, there are a lot of rules to follow when hunting. You just don't go out and kill anything you see.

I'm personally again hunting. My father and my brother like to go deer hunting a lot, but I never go with them. Some people argue that hunting is simply part of the food chain and that hunting may be a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

I do eat meat, but I just don't think about where it came from, for it causes me to lose interest in my food. Some of my dad's associates work at a slaughter plant, and those places are just inhumane 90% of the time. The way chickens are killed makes you sick. Ok, enough off-topic rambling.

There a Tee-Shirt That I will have to quto on this "There a place for ever animal right next to the biscits and gravy" I say kill and eat the animals that what there for. Most of eat meat and hunting is where you get some from and also If you don"t hunt speaces Like deer will die out because during the winter there is not enough food for all of them and they start eating unadible things.

Nay. Except if you're starving like hell and have no choice, and even then it'd have to be a small animal. For "sport" hunters, it's just for the pleasure to kill. That disgusts me.
It's simply not a fair fight, hunter vs hunted. If it was, i'd be for it.
As for the animal realm itself hunting, i have no problem with that, since that's nature's way.

Hunting became unnecessary to humans when we developed into an agrarial/pastoral society. We RAISE animals now, instead of hunting them. Most of the people who hunt today either do it for sport, which I find barbaric (no offense to anyone here who hunts), or for bounty or profit, which, personally, I consider a gray area.

You do have a point about deer whose populations exceed the resources of their habitat. Usually reproduction naturally decreases when resources become scarce. I'm not really sure why this doesn't occur with deer.

What I hate is like hunting contests. Whoever shoots the biggest buck wins cash/trophy/whatever. That means a buttload of hunters go out and shoot up a bunch of deer that they didn't NEED in the first place!

Lack of natural predators, combined with high fertility maybe?confused

Hunting is idiotic and barbaric. We are not hunting and gathering neanderthals. Unless you live where there is no grocery store or something, you dont need to hunt. Go to a fucking Albertsons. And the idea of killing for sport is moronic.

My uncle(who is anti-hunting, although he is a gun lover), says "Give the animals a rifle and make it fair" and i told him "they cant fire a rifle" and he said "Well, i guess its not fucking fair then is it?" And you know what, he was right. Any grown man who hunts a defenseless animal is a pussy, and I dont care if you hunt or not and if you do that offends you, I will tell it to your face.
I have no tolerance for such shit.

Not quite.
By that logic, a baseball would have to hit you with a bat for it to be considered competition.
Hunting is more of a "see how many you can kill" or "see how big you can catch 'em" type sports like fishing.

Some animals do need killing though.
Possums for example are rampant in this country, so we're encouraged to shoot them, however in aussie, they're a protected species i beleive.

So your going to compare an inanimate object, a baseball, to a living thing, a deer? Well sir, any respect I had for your intellect has gone bye bye. Amazing! Humanity never fails to disappoint.

That isn't necesarry at all.

I'm not into hunting, but some things just need to be killed because some dickhead introduced them to our country and upset our ecosystem. Thousands of of metres of native rare and protected forest is at stake, and i for one would rather have no Possums than no Kauri or Rimu trees ect.

What i was saying about noob_sareena's post had nothing to do with comparing living things with inanimate objects, it was about the definition of "competition".
I think you just missed the point.

I am for the most part against hunting though, unless the animal is endangering more important things like other animals, or forest.

OK. First off, I myself do not hunt. But I do not mind that anybody else enjoys it or they do it to feed themselves because for the most part, they eat what they kill. And that is not a waste. Same as eating that hamburger you had yesterday or last week.

If we did not hunt these animals, we would be over populated as fuck. I like watching A deer roam just as much as the next guy. But I sure as hell don't want to see 2000 (possible exaggeration, but who would know) of them in my front yard.

Having your opinion is fine and by all means your right. But to call someone a 'pussy' for doing this throws your whole arguement out the window.

I don't mind hunters who actually eat what they kill. It's poachers and sport hunters I can't stand. Same goes for fishing. Those who eat there catch are fine; but the ones who mount them on the wall are just fucked up.

Now if you want to talk barberic, nothing is worse than bullfights. I've never felt bad for animals until I saw my first bullfight. First they are locked up and beaten with boards wraped in the red cape. Then after a few days of that they are prodded and set loose in the stadium. We all know what happens here. Guys on horses spear them, and then the are finished off with a sword that pierces there back and comes out through their stomachs. The entire spectacle takes up hours. If the bull wins it's put to death. Afterward the ears and the tail are cut off and taken by either VIPs or the mantador. Now IMO, that's more fucked up than hunting. At least hunters end it with a single bullet.

Subzeromaster, I really do not care. I stand by my opinion. I am not calling any one person a pussy. My opinion of it is its a pussy thing. Do you find nothing chickenshit about a grown human man using firearms to hunt defenseless animals? Use a little common sense. Once again, let me say, humanity never fails in dissapointing me.

And to the other person, if that is the case with overpopulation of an animal, then it should be taken care of in some other manner. We have a serious human overpopulation problem as well, should we resort to MURDER in this respect? Because thats what it is. Come on people, use your head.

As Skeleton said, I'm ok with the idea of hunting and fishing for food and food that will be eaten, but hunting and fishing for sport I don't agree with.
Even catch and release methods for fishing isn't right, as odds are that fish will die as its been played out.
I enjoy fishing a lot, as I enjoy eating Salmon. smile

No. I don't find it 'chickenshit'. I find it keeping the population under control and feeding your family. And the fact that you 'really don't care' just goes to show how narrowminded you are about seeing it from the other side. Once again, humanity never fails to disappoint me.
