Well alright.
The theme is a mash up of mostly fighting games with an insane amount of guest characters. Each fighting game featured will have at least 40 characters from it's respective series.
Games to expect: MK, SF, Tekken, Soul Caliber, Killer Instinct, Primal Rage, DOA, MvC, Virtua Fighter, and many more.
Gameplay: All characters will fight in a 2D plane. However, each character from their respective series will retain their gameplay elements.
(Examples: SF characters have their super meter and can do EX moves, Ultras, etc. MK characters will have their super meter and can perform X-ray attacks and Fatalities at the end of matches. Tekken characters will have their 10 Hit combos and be able to use Bound combos for juggling.)
Tag Team mode will be enabled. So if you want to have crazy teams like Kung Lao/Guy, Kuma/Blanka, Kratos/Hulk, Ryu/Blizzard, Issac Clark/Agent 47, Dante/Fulgore, Cole Macgrath/Jill Valentine, then you are more than welcome to do that.

You mean Thrill Kill?
I'm kidding. I know that isn't exactly what it's about, bu it's kind of close.
It would have awesome 3D anime style characters but with over the top insanity levels of violence.
Sort of like Mortal Kombat meets Hello Kitty.
And it would be so much better than Death Cargo.
Edit: Also, it would have create-a-fighter because EVERY GAME NEEDS CREATE-A-FIGHTER!

Its gotta be somethin' anime like... or inspired.
I have come up with many concepts for fighting games, most of them I won't mention, for obvious reasons.
One I will mention, however, is a concept known as Open Book. It is an adventure-style fighting game based on notable and iconic characters from various literature. The story for it was inspired by the intro to Super Smash Bros., where Master Hand combines several franchises together and brings it all to life. In Open Book, a young boy does this with several books, poems, and vingettes, out of boredom. Everything seems fine in his head, but when he writes it all down on paper, it creates a rift in the fictional universe. Several stories are intertwined, and it affects the literature in real life, i.e. Atticus Finchhappearing in Of Mice and Men, and Odysseus appearing in Dante's Inferno.
The possibilities for this game are practically endless, but the one thing holding it back is legality. I would love to expand on it, though.

I'd make a fighting game with MKO people, so that I can use you all as punching bags.
It's ok though, because I know you'd do the same to me.

So this fighting game will tell the stories of special characters from each literature story?
Such as Dante from The Divine Comedy for example. Who else?

Wow, this thread was made for me.
I'm a nerd, so I actually do this in my spare time. I write up the design of my fantasy game.
It started in 2007 (I shit you not), and I've been working on it ever since. e Whatever game I was on at time is what influenced my ideas. I went from DOA4 to Soul Calibur to Blazblue to Persona 4. So it went from 3d fighter with little character diversity and martial arts and dial-a-combos to a 2d epic with unique characters and a variety of different gameplay mechanics.
I'm so deep into this game that not only do I have the entire cast down, their stories, the game story, how the game might possibly work, and some cool attacks, but I'm all the way into specific things like alternate costumes and normal commands!
It's a 2d fighter with elements of a 3d fighter. Every single character is different, each one combos like they're from a different game, even character locomotion methods varies thoughout the cast. Character diversity is quite important to me.
Super meters and ex move meters are seperate. Get-out-of-combo-free mechanics, stuff like that.
Story wise, it takes place is some different planet to account for differences in nations and stuff.
Each character is somehow connected to the main plot of the story. Nobody is ever left out. I try to stray away from main characters in my game because I think that's bloody stupid in a fighting game.
I've reviewed my story so many times, trying to avoid holes, and enhance continuity. for example, one character fights with the signs of the zodiac. Being from a different planet, they have different constellations, so the zodiac signs are different.
As for appeal, I try to make every single character fight with something more interesting than a sword. And if a character uses a sword, there is something different about it.
I also changed up as many cliches as possible. There is a female grappler, who's grabs don't lead to damage, but oki's rather. I think only one projectile has a straight, mid height projectile. Etc.
I think the most ironic thing is that I have no intention of ever bringing this game to life, even though it's my dream. It's simply not something that my future has room for. Maybe when I'm 40 and I get bored with my life, I'll go back to school for video game development and make it happen, but at the moment, these are just ideas in my head and doodles in my notebook.

Not many at the moment, to be honest.
It's not easy looking for existing characters who would be willing to punch someone, or that I could alter slightly into that light without ruining them.
So far, I've conjured up these few:
Atticus Finch (To Kill A Mockingbird)
Winter Santiaga (The Coldest Winter Ever)
Lenny Small (Of Mice and Men)
Odysseus (Illiad/The Odyssey)
Heather Wallace (The Maker's Song series)
Dante (The Divine Comedy/Dante's Inferno)
Tom Sawyer (The Adventures of Tom Sawyer)
I'm not sure if I should add another book, or just expand on these.

Hannibal Lecter added to your group?
I've always wanted a vale tudo sim, with each character representing a different martial art. I imagine it would play something like Pride FC on PS2, with a fluid grappling and striking system, except in street locations, and with lots of blood. Possibly there could be an injury system, where for example a checked headkick could result in a broken arm, changing the properties of techniques which utilise that arm for the injured character; maybe scaled back damage, longer startup, slightly different animations, etc. Hard thing to implement but I've always thought it would be an interesting way to add strategic depth.

I'd like to make a cross over fighting games filled with nearly famous characters and side kicks.
Roster
Luigi
Slippy Toad
Shiek
Nix and Kou from Infamous
Robin
Miles "Tails" Prower
TREMOR FINALLY BECOMES Playable!
Daxter
Clank
Bently and Murray from Sly
Red Arrow
etc etc etc
Who would be the final boss?

I think a Greek Mythology fighting game would be epic! (don't hold spelling against me here)
Zues
Poisidon
Hades
Ares
Hera
Athena
Apollo
Hermes
Thanatos
Hercules
The Minotaur
Charon
Perseus
Theseus
Medusa
Achilles
Icarus
A Centaur character
A Satyr character (erect penis optional)
Boses could be the Kraken, Cerebus and many of the other big creature from Greek mythology
I know most if not all of these characters have been murderd by Kratos at one point or another but fresh depictions of the characters would be nice!

Just wanted to throw out some more folks you could use.
For the record, Kratos in Greek mythology is nothing more than the personification of strength.
