Is this the time for Nintendo.......
ShingoEX Wrote: Unless they like Nintendo's 1st party games, which many people do. You can't get them elsewhere... |
Right. I forgot to mention that getting a GC is not a bad idea if you have the extra cash and you want to play their exclusives. Hell, if I weren't up to my eyeballs in debt, I'd probably get one myself. But, by getting a GC and only a GC, people are missing out on plenty of third-party/online content.
ShingoEX Wrote: PS2 needs to get it together as well in this department. Their online department isn't even up to par with the Dreamcast's, and I keep seeing more and more titles that SHOULD have online support ship without it. |
Agree completely. People are gypping themselves by buying the online adaptor (seperately anyway) at this point.
ShingoEX Wrote: First of all, the entire industry is fueled by redundant titles, such as sequels and remakes. There are also too many "me too" titles out there. The catch is - not too many people wanna try somthing new and innovative. People seem to like what they're used to, hence the insane number of titles that play almost exactly like Devil May Cry. |
Yeah, my point was not that there's something wrong with old formulas, they seem to tirelessly work their proverbial magic. At the same time, though, I think Nintendo needs to come up with something fresh to gain more appeal among gamers in general.
I agree that there are too many "me too" titles too. This wouldn't be a problem if each title had it's own unique spin or innovation that set it apart from the others, but often it's just the same game in a different setting, and often the "me too" games are worse than the originals too...

dude if you do not have a gamecube then don't knock it...
Nah, I think Nintendo is gonna keep it going. Gamecube is getting ready to hit it big with releases like Geist, the new Zelda, Resident Evil 4, and Metroid Prime 2. The DS will probably flop because the whole dual screen deal is just a novelty. But aside from that the Gameboy Advance SP will probably continue selling millions of units and help keep Nintendo going for sure.

number 1: they are starting to lose the kiddy title by pushing titles like resident evil.
number 2: it has been stated numerous times that the number of people that actually have the XBOX live or PS equivilant aren't high, therefore it is not a profitable market therefore GC won't go into it.
number 3:GBA is outselling all consoles
number 4: Nintendo has been in this situation before, when sega was dominating and they overcame it.
number 5: people who criticise the GC usually haven't played it or had a look at the titles it offers
number 6: Nintendo is has heaps more experience in consoles compared to Sony and Microsoft
and you think Nintendo will go under!

Yeah, but it's still quite prthisthingisdisabledent in their first-party titles. I don't think the kiddy image is really even what hurts their sales, except maybe among teenage nerds who think playing "mature" games makes them cool.

Yeah, but Nintendo had a massively successful console before Sega came in, in fact they had a monopoly here in the States. When Nintendo realized they had finally milked the shit out of their 8-bit system, they released the SNES. The Genesis at first outsold the SNES as well, but Nintendo eventually got some companies to release some good titles for it. This generation, Nintendo has tried to make those same moves, but without as much success. The GC is going to stay in sales where it is now for the rest of it's lifespan.

Actually, people criticize sometimes because of the titles it offers, or doesn't offer rather.

The time for Nintendo?? Uhh no, Nintendo's got profits. Mortal Kombat fans should be more worried about Midway's financial situation... A company can't live for ever with so many losses and bad management.
I'm a big nintendo fan because they offer what I want in the videogame market: innovative gameplay.
Though Nintendo's future is in its own hands. Nintendo's management isn't quite the greatest out there I must say. In such a competitive market you can't say: "the videogame industry is wrong because of this or that trend"... They must adapt to changes because it's quite difficult to change those "trends" nowadays. But I'm very optimistic they're quietly doing so... Nintendo is always keeping their stuff in secret and sometimes that gives the wrong perception at first.
And as a last comment all I can say is... THANKS GOD FOR METROID LOL!!!!!!!!

What site is this? Mortal Kombat Online. Does Gamecube get Mortal Kombat Online? No. That poses a SERIOUS problem for me, as a Nintendo fan-boy. I was a Nintendo fan, first, and a PS2-owner second. It was my back-up in case this happened. It's just a shame. Is the Gamecube worth owning for three of the greatest games of all time? (Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, and The Legend of Zelda)
... um... yes. But it still needs MK. Fatality.

Well what saved nintendo sales were 1st and second party titles anyway, and sega has made some pretty poor decisions, cd which nintendo did but then sony made the PS from nintendos model, 32X, nomad, gamegear, pico, computer software, and the unsuccessful saturn it could not support everything it finally signed it's death sentence by making CDs their main medium of storage because how many people had burned DC games *raises hand* Lambert Wrote: number 5: people who criticise the GC usually haven't played it or had a look at the titles it offers Actually, people criticize sometimes because of the titles it offers, or doesn't offer rather. so which is it? that could be said for all of the three major consoles... |
what happened to numbers 2 & 3... ??
NeoScorpion Wrote: hey weren't you that guy that bashed GTA untill it appeared on the XBOX? |
Yes, and I still bash GTA. It's still a shitty game. Even being on Xbox can't save it.

ok...

Nintendo's first-party titles haven't done much magic by themselves for Nintendo since the 8-bit days.
Anyway, the DC didn't use CD's, it used GD's. Sega's mistake was in making CD's readable by the GD reader. They mistakenly figured that since games couldn't be read by PC's, they'd never be copied. Regardless, lack of DC sales is what killed the DC, not piracy, contrary to popular belief.

Well, the other two have a steady stream of third-party content, while the GC has a steady stream of third-party cancellations.
As for 2 & 3, just didn't feel like commenting on them, that's all.
