I might be is mistaken on this since I haven't read the intros,bios, and ending of MK1 and MK2 for a while. Here it goes anyway.

Kung Lao the 1st one was the beat Shang Tsung. Years later ,Tsung returned later with Goro> Goro of course beat and killed Kung Lao. The desendant of Kung Lao... Kung Lao (MK2 - present) now fights along side with another Kung Lao desendent Liu Kang. Keep in mind that the two Lao are seperate by 500 years. To get the full story pop in MK: DA and go to the Kontent and then extras and the comic explains things alot better. Also it doesn't hurt to read MK1-MK: Decepton's bios and intros to fill in the gaps of info.

Alright I'll let you in on the Original Kung Lao, he pretty much sets up Mortal Kombat from the beginning. Okay, so i' m bored and i feel like typing so if you want to be amused please feel free to read this long ass story from what I know of these two guys...

Okay, way before Liu Kang's time, Shang Tsung entered Mortal Kombat and fought in it for Shao Kahn. Shang Tsung fought in Mortal Kombat and won 9 times and it's like, the Elder God's rules that if Mortal Kombat is won in Outworld's favor 10 times it opens a portal that connects the two realms. Shao Kahn wanted to invade Earthrealm for a long time, anywho. Shang Tsung was arrogant thinking he was going to win yet again a tenth time but Kung Lao entered Mortal Kombat and fought his way to the top and eventually beat Shang Tsung himself ending Outworld's winning streak and weakening Shang Tsung.

So Shang Tsung decided to clap back, he was alot weaker this time around but he got the help of Goro who was a warrior prince and he was never defeated in combat. I don't know how Shang Tsung got Goro involved in Mortal Kombat but he did, and that was when Goro appeared in the Mortal Kombat tournament to become the champion and win in Outworlds favor.

So Goro went in Mortal Kombat and crushed everyone and fought against Kung Lao. They fought and Goro managed to overpower the mortal and then killed him. Shang Tsung took in the soul of Kung Lao and with that learned of the Shaolin's Secrets and used that to his advantage. So Shang Tsung continued on working on the Shaolin Tournament and created an era of hell for 500 years with that tournament untill Liu Kang beat him and Goro.


Now for the new Kung Lao...

Okay, he's a guy that worked hard for the Shaolin, he was pretty much in his ancestor's shadow and even Liu Kangs, but he was very important to the Shaolin and he then became a member of the White Lotus that was formed by the elders of the Shaolin. Anywho, Kung Lao practiced and studied the history of Earthrealm's struggle with Outworld and such and he didn't see any combat that I KNOW of untill after the Mortal Kombat Tournament when Baraka attacked his village.

Anyway, Kung Lao managed to survive the attack or he was not there to protect them, i forgot which way it was. Well Kung Lao decided to fight when Liu Kang returned from home and they stood in the ruins of the Shaoln Temple, they decided that they were going to get revenge on Shao Kahn and all of his people for what they did. So Liu Kang and Kung Lao travelled to Outworld with other warriors and fought in Shao Kahn's tournament (MORTAL KOMBAT 2). I don't know exactly what Kung Lao did, but apparently Liu Kang fought against Shao Kahn and Mortal Kombat 2 pretty much ended when they all escaped from Outworld and back to Earthrealm.

So after that Kung Lao relized that the time for healing would begin and he and Liu Kang re-established the White Lotus and began to train a generation of new warriors. They stayed in the Shaolin Temples untill Shao Kahn broke the portal of Outworld and Earthrealm, (This was a big thing) and pretty much the whole world was slaughtered exept for the exeption of afew (MORTAL KOMBAT 3) So Liu Kang and Kung Lao managed to be two of the survivors and they fought against Shao Kahn together with the help of others to overpower Shao Kahn. What I know of is this, Kung Lao and Liu Kang were together in the final fight against Shao Kahn and Kung Lao was hurt really bad in his fight. This let Liu Kang get angry enough to find the strength and whip Shao Kahn's ass and weaken his entire Empire. So Liu Kang and Kung Lao and the others brought Earthrealm back to normal. Kung Lao was thought to have died due to his wounds from Shao Kahn and I don't know what happened from there, or how where he stayed.

During (MORTAL KOMBAT 4) Or shall I say (GOLD), Kung Lao was healed from his wounds and didn't want to fight anymore, he wanted to live a life of peace . But Kung Lao learned of Goro's return from I think Kitana or someone, not too sure... Anywho I think that since Kung Lao knew of his anscestor's death by the hands of him and having to live in his shadow for a long time it was his destiny to face Goro, so he stopped living his life of peace and travelled to fight Goro. So Kung Lao caught up to Goro and was going to fight him but Kitana stopped Kung Lao and Goro and Kung Lao talked and made peace with each other, from that point on, Goro was a good guy.

Now in (MK DEALDY ALLIANCE) Kung Lao was back in Earthrealm and he still trained at the Shaolin Temples or shall I say Wu Shi academy. He lived in peace yet again but that all ended when Shang Tsung managed to come back up with the help of Quan Chi and they killed his Shaolin Brother Liu Kang who he went through so much with. This really pissed of Kung Lao because he was the first to find Liu Kang dead. So Kung Lao met up with Raiden and Raiden knew that things were really fucked up so he gathered everyone up yet again and Kung Lao seeked out someone who he heard stories of. Bo Rai' Cho, who taught Liu Kang the flying kick that helped him defeat Shang Tsung during the Mortal Kombat Tournament. So Kung Lao decided to train with Bo' Rai Cho and was taught the Whirl Wind Kick, So Kung Lao and Bo' Rai Cho stuck together to take out Shang Tsung but something happened between them two that involved Kitana and Kung Lao seperated with Bo' Rai Cho and went with Kitana to take out Shang Tsung.

That's when they all gathered up with Raiden at Shang Tsung's palace in Outworld and the whole deal went down with Onaga being brought back from the dead and shit. I don't know exactly what happened but Kung Lao got his ass handed to him along with his buddies Johnny Cage, Sonya, Kitana, and Jax. By the Tarkata in Outworld. So I think Kung Lao was killed and brought back with the rest of the guys to be under Onaga's rule.

That's where Kung Lao's story leaves off for now... The New One that is...

anyway to be kind of an ass im gonna correct some minor things
the tournment orignally started as a competion but when shang entered and won it becam ecorrupted. the elder gods set up mortal komabt to protect earth from outworld hence the 10 straight win thing. shang won 9 times and got his ass handed to him by kung lao. when kahn got wind of this he sent shang to work in the cobalt mines and would not allow him to consume souls thats why goro came in and shang was old. and the rest on old kung lao is right.

for the younger one no one knows and i dont think midway gave any hint to what kung did during mk2. in mk3 the eart warriors survived because they were protected by the elder gods from being killed so they could fight back. kung fought kahn and lost and was thought to have died but dint die. promised life of peace. in mk 4 he got wind of shinnok and decided to help and he heard about goros return and he wanted revenge. thats why he attacked him anjd gave a scar. the mkda and mkd parts are good so good job.

I thought Mortal Kombat was established as a result of shinnok long ago....you see the Elder Gods had no need to envade realms nor did they care but shinnok got power hungry and started conquering realms. So there was the mighty war between the gods and Raiden stepped in and in an attempt to subdue shinnok Raiden accidently destroyed an entire realm and civilization. This however did subdue shinnok and then he was stripped of his God status and sent to the netherrealm aka hell and as a result the Elder Gods established Mortal Kombat inorder to stop any repeat of the conquering of realms like shinnok was doing...now inorder to conquer a realm you had to fight their toughest warriors and defeat them 10 straight times instead of simply invading thus establishing Mortal Kombat.
