Cool of you to put all the effort you did into this. I liked her in her in her early years but now I can't stand any of her new songs at all born this way was ok that I don't mind. Every thing else is crap though she has begun to irritate me

I'm not a big Gaga fan. Not a fan of the overplayed "Poker Face" or "Bad Romance", but a few times I've heard a lesser-known song and gone "who sang that? Gaga? Hey, that's actually pretty good!"

That said, my female friend and I just can't take her seriously (which is worse? Meat dress or Kermit the Frog dress?) and we just crack up laughing every single time we see the totally 80's hair metal screaming bike woman cover for "Born This Way" in the stores. Just totally feels like something that should have been the cover of a Poison or Megadeth album from decades ago. In fact, I'm laughing right now. I just can't help it; it's so utterly goofy.

To paraphrase what someone once told me: "Okay so it's a little tacky. That's Lady Gaga. She combines avant-garde with tackiness in a way that produces something mysteriously familiar and at the same time marvelously shitty. Every generation needs a Gaga. Someone who excels at digging up the bad ideas of past eras and breathing new life into their badness. Suck on, Lady Gaga."

I don't think she sucks, but I DO miss the woman with the vocal range and powerful voice she used to be: (I'd take more of this over a thousand "Poker Face" songs)

It's a great album. Government Hooker is definitely my favourite.

Badass album, although it took me a while to love it. Can't decide on my favorite song, Judas is awesome but Scheibe and Black Jesus are also kickass... I think Born this Way is actually my least favorite song.

It took me a minute to like Government Hooker, but now it's among my top three next to Scheisse and Hurr.

Yeah it's surprising and not surprising at the same time how fans receive Born This Way now, because compared to the rest of the album, the song just doesn't compare.

Also, when you guys are listing song names it makes me laugh. Pretend you know nothing about Lady Gaga and read through some of the posts where people are listing songs, and you'll chuckle too.

I laughed when I read "Scheisse" and "Government Hooker" ironically those are two of my favorite songs.

That's very impressive, except nearly half of those sales were thanks to Amazon selling the album for a dollar. I wonder what the "real" number would have been.

I heard all the songs on youtube. Definitely not my style of pop music. Sounds way too much like the old Cher and Madonna combined with some 80's "Satanic rock" flavor. It has a prominent "oldies" sound imo, which turns me off about it.

There's lots of catchy songs here though, way catchier than born this way and judas. Why were those chosen as the first 2 singles? Heaven knows, cuz I think there's way better songs to choose from. If I had to choose a favorite I would probably pick Government Whore. Ultimately, however, I think none of these songs top Bad Romance.

So overall, I'm happy for her. I think this album will please Gaga fans universally, and I'm glad that a chick is at the top of the industry right now. Take THAT you shithead rappers. I just wish at least one song or two would have been more along the lines of my taste. Oh well, maybe next time.

Well Amazon approached Lady Gaga's team with the idea and it was a win-win-win situation for everybody. Amazon paid the rest of the 8.99 to Lady Gaga for all of the albums that were sold, more fans get to hear her music for a cheaper price, and Amazon is using the album as a loss-leader to drive awareness of its music and cloud-related services.

I feel like the Amazon deal was a good opportunity to get more fans to listen to music legally. The 400K sales made from Amazon probably make up for a good fraction of the album that would have been downloaded from illegally off the internet. Whatever it takes for more people to actually buy music is for the better. Hopefully Amazon could do this for more big names. Maybe next time TSwift releases an album.


And after hearing Born This Way the album, I understand why she released Born This Way the song as a first single. It's because no other song demonstrates the message behind the album as her chocie for the lead single. I mean, it so blantenly states, "There's nothing wrong with loving who you are... because he made you perfect..." That's kind of the theme she was driving at. Plus the single was a success so it worked.

As for Judas, it's probably because people were begging for another Bad Romance and for God's sake, Judas IS Bad Romance 2.0. But the radio stations just never played it. What can you do?
though the song is rather catchy.

The Edge Of Glory is what gets me though, I understand that the single is doing well, but they onyl released it because it did so well as a promotional single. I would have went with "Marry The Night" but whatever, Edge is gaining spins, so... kudos to her team.



My hopes are for Scheisse being the next single, followed by Marry The Night/Americano/Government Hooker.

The only two songs that took me a while to like was Hair and Bad Kids - I really didn't like those at first but they grew on me really quickly and now I love them. I'd been waiting for Government Hooker since the Mugler show though - I knew it would be probably be my favourite long before the album even came out. XD

Try listening to the full songs on Vevo. The most well received tracks have been Government Hooker, Bloody Mary, Scheisse, Marry The Night, and Heavy Metal Lovers. Try starting with them; they're her most infectious tracks on the album.

She sold her album for 99 cents on amazon because they offered to pay the 9 dollar difference for every standard edition sold. As mentioned before, everybody wins; Amazon gains awareness of it's music market and cloud-related services, Lady Gaga gets full price for albums sold, and fans get to listen to her music for a cheaper price. Whatever it takes to get people to download music legally works best.

To be honest, I don't see what the big deal about Blood Mary is, but that's the absolute favorite for most Gaga fans ._. Scheisse and Government Hooker are my new LoveGame and Poker Face.

Well 1.1 - .4 would be .7 to 700K at least. And remember that Amazon was just a cheaper version, if that wasn't available, there would still be people would buy the album from somewhere else, that's where the 800 to 900 K come from. 200-300K is probably people who only bought it cuz it was cheap or stans who bought multiple copies.

I'm a fan of all of them, although Gaga is my favorite, I don't give a shit who's number 1... as long as she's my fave. Though I knew Gaga wouldn't top Brit's record, that 1.3 millio is MASSIVE. Besides, Brit followed up with 600K the following week and Gaga with only 200K the following the week (last week).

Artists just can't sell albums nowadays. They have to rely on their concerts. Kind of sad what's happened to the music industry =-/

But my 2 favorite bitches have the top 2 first-week sales for a female. So that's pretty cool =-P

i loved gaga last album and during her whole monster/fame era. and i do love born this way (song), and you and i. but the rest of her songs on this album are so out there. im not sure how i feel about all the biblical references for one thing, but i dont know, something about her is putting me off towards her this era.

i know she wanted this album to be a completely new sound and something new. i guess i just wanted another dance/pop record lol. oh well

and yeah. its nearly impossible for album sales to be what they used to. Theres no way britney could ever sell 1.3 mill in a week again. probably even with 99 cent albums lol. but who could blame people for getting it for free when it as easy as a click!

Although I love Born This Way a lot, I'm with you, I still prefer The Fame. But I'm glad she introduced herself to a different sound, I love when my favorite artists can successfully evolve.
Rihanna showed she could evolve with Rated R, and Britney with Blackout. The best part is that those were their best albums (IMO) for those two.

I still see BTW is a Pop/Dance record. Not as much as The Fame and Femme Fatale, but my cousin and I just made a bunch of goofy ass webcam videos of us dancing around to a bunch of songs.

It's probably because it's much easier to dance to a song about... well, dancing till the world ends or Just Dancing, compared to a Immigration Laws Are Immoral or JEZUS IS MAH VIRCHU kind of song.

But I always end up buying a physical copy afterwards. Though my mom thought I was crazy for going out and purchasing 15 dollar (or 1 dollar =-> ) albums when I already have it in my iTunes JUST because I want to support the millionaire artists ._.

He's right, if it's available on an album somewhere, get it in better quality from a torrent site. Use youtube for songs that can't be found anywhere else, like a fan's piano cover or something.



It's definitely gonna be her weakest album, but I really actually like it. Emphasis on "like".
It's no Sasha Fierce, but some songs on there are not bad. "Start Over" and "Countdown" are probably the best, so you should start with those once you hear it.

Yeah, I definitely think it shits all over the blood abortions that are Love? and Bionic. Better than the shitty fillers of Teenage Dream and it's overrated singles. Close to Cannibal and a bit far from Loud. And a couple light years from Femme Fatale and Born This Way.
