Legend of Korra

Alright so I finally got around to watching the finale.
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Let me just start off by saying ABOUT FUCKING TIME BOLIN GETS HIS MOMENT. And boy oh boy it was glorious. Saving the President and kicking ass while his mover is playing in the back. Simply amazing. And to top it off, Bolin reunited Team Avatar. I'm so happy to see him actually plot relevant once again. I was also very happy to see him and Mako rekindle their bond. It was also really cool to see Bolin and Mako fight Unalaq side by side as brothers.
Turning to Mako, poor guy just can't catch a break. First Asami just throws herself out to Mako, then Korra comes back. Mako just cannot win with women. I was also surprised that Mako just tossed out Lightning at those Dsrk spirits while defending Korra. He should do that way more. And it was about time Mako and Korra break up. Their relationship was toxic. Now the door is open for Asami and Mako again.
Speaking of Asami, why in the hell is she even after Mako at all? She is always going to be second banana to Korra with Mako. He even dumped her lady season just to be with Korra. What a dick. She really needs to find a guy who isn't a total ass. Hopefully Future Industries gets back on it's feet next season.
Now the action sequences in the finale were incredible. And man shit looked real grim for awhile. Unalaq bonding with Vatou and crushing Ravaa to pieces. Seeing the past avatars fading away was very powerful and added impact to that whole scene. Then we got a Godzilla-esque fight which was very amusing.
Then of course we got Jinora saving the day. With no explanation as to how she did. Hopefully that gets elsborated on next season.
I'm very curious to see where Korra's decision to leave the portals open will go. I think it'll come back to haunt her next season. Only time will tell.

From what I understand, there won't be focus on romantic relationships in the next season. The creators are aware that those stories didn't sit too well with many fans.
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
For the next season, the third book will be called "Change". We're going to be more Bumi, and hopefully, they'll explain more about Jinora. We may even get a significant time gap, but we'll see what happens.

I've always valued the main story over the relationships, but I'd still like them to be somewhat present. But definitely not the focus.

I think the problem is the relationships just don't feel genuine at all. Makorra never made sense to me at all. The break up didn't even bother me because we never see them being together. Couple kisses but they don't do anything together.
And the Mako/Asami relationship was also stupid. She was so caring and giving to him and he dumps her like yesterday's newspaper. And then this season she comes crawling back to him. Why? It makes her character look stupid.

Good news guys.
Offseason ends tonight. Season 3 airs tonight with 3 episodes. I think it starts at 7 or 8. So pretty excited about that.
And Platinum Games (Guys behind Bayonetta) are making a downloadable Third Person Action game for the show. Story takes place between Season 1 and 2. So far I've heard it looks and feels like the show. I'll be sure to get it whenever it comes out.

That sounds great. I'll try to check out the episodes when I can. From the bits I've seen and read, season 3 should be very interesting.

Damn, that is way sooner than I expected. I suppose Nick is in a hurry to get it over with.
Not that I'm complaining, the sooner the better...it's just a bummer how they stopped supporting the show in favor of being The Spongebob Network, considering that Season 3 was such an improvement over the first two.

Wait, what?? October 3rd?? Wow...well, yeah, after season 3, I am really interested in watching season 4. I too hate the treatment that was given to the show. I liked season 3 a lot though I wanted to see and learn more about the villains as well as see a bit more Zuko. I'm sure we'll see more of him in season 4 and maybe even seen the likes of Toph and some other characters from The Last Airbender.

Yeah it seems like they're really trying to sweep the show under the rug. But if we get more show way sooner than normally then fine.

BEHOLD: New hair!
Honestly, I really like it. Just like the one Joaquim did in his original concept of her.
Btw, I was unaware an Avatar thread existed here :) Pleasant surprise. I hope to see Katara and Zuko interact next season!

I'm looking forward to Season 3 (when my lady gets the Blu-ray), but after two seasons it's apparent to me at least that the show, while highly enjoyable for older demographics, falls far short of the first Avatar series and I can't fathom children enjoying it at all. Nick wanting it to be done with doesn't surprise me.

I'm really excited for this final season. I get something of a Dark Knight Rises vibe with the time gap and Korra's path to recovery. It looks like Kuvira will be the main antagonist or one of the main antagonists. I have to wonder if there's some other major villain such as someone else from the Red Lotus. Well, we'll find out soon enough.

Book 4 premiere is up.
I'm really glad Kai and Opal got some more attention. Especially Opal, I felt like she was seriously underdeveloped last season.

I love this show, I knew Mortal Kombat fans would eat this show up. I like that Henry Rollins was basically just playing Henry Rollins on this show.

I swear this show was made for secretly made for adults.
They have the relationships to appeal to Teens, but the themes of the show are actually quite mature. Plus the character arcs and development are way better than most animated shows. It's weird.

So I just watched the Series Finale..
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
And holy fucking shit was it great. The action was amazing and there were some great heartfelt moments between characters. Overall I'm quite satisfied with how it ended. And what a bold choice going with Korra/Asami. Also I love that Varrick and Zhu-Li tied the knot, seemed natural.
Now there are a few things that I wasn't happy about.
- Bolin and Opal get zero screen time together. Oh sure, Bolin yells out "OPALLL" after Kuvira nearly blasted them. But that's it. Oh and I don't count showing Bolin and Opal running to the dance floor either. I was hoping they would've at least got to show them together and maybe kiss or something. But nope, nothing of the sort. We just don't get to see them as a happy couple.
- Mako didn't die. Now I know Mako fans wouldn't want him to die, but it would've been such a fitting end for Mako. He would've died such an awesome death, and it would've felt significant. Mako got snubbed pretty hard this season, so him going out in via honorable sacrifice would have been a great way to leave Mako's mark. They could've had a scene in the finale, where Bolin and Opal are at his grave and they are thanking Mako for what he did for all of them. Woulda been sad but damn it would've been great.
Those are my only real gripes though. I think the show ended on a high note, and I loved watching it. I'm glad that Bolin got a lot of strong moments in Season 3 and especially Season 4. He's still a goof but at least he has Opal and fucking Lavabending. I love how he's matured as a character.

I thought the series ended pretty well. What sucks is that there was a restriction on how the seasons were broken down. If we had gotten 20 episodes per season, we could have gotten a lot more on characters, especially the villains. I'm still amused at the last couple of minutes of the series finale. It's a bold move.
